What Are You Doing To/With Your Car Today?

The weather was perfect for the Amsoil Z-rod oil change and my scheduled two year radiator flush and fluid replacement.

    FED EX.......WTF

I cringe when I see something I bought is being shipped by FedEx. One item they lost, then they lost two separate shipments of my checks. I got through to a FedEx manager on the phone. He tells me they have been having problems with small packages. For a company who's only business is to ship...

"You Mopar guys" The Mark Worman effect?

There is something about Mopars. Every time I am at a cars and coffee type event people address me as being a Mopar guy I guess because I have a Duster. They don't know that I have owned a 360 powered AMC Gremlin, two V8 Vegas, a 1972 Chevelle, a 1975 Firebird, a 1956 hot rod Chevy, a 1969 Mach...

How many of your personal cars ended up in junkyards?

In 1985 I bought a 1971 Chevelle Malibu 350 for $100.00, triple green that had seen too many NY winters. The quarters were rotted half way up, fenders flapped in the breeze and the 350 had a bad cam and lifters. Sent that one to the junkyard. My 1976 V8 Vega, no rust, houndstooth interior and a...

    Numbers crunchers. Carburetor question?

I wish I did but all I have is the date tag.

    Numbers crunchers. Carburetor question?

What would you think is the most correct date code for a carb for a 1971 Duster 340 with a SPD of July 9th, and the engine was forged on January 19th 1971. (matching #s car) #1 March 24th 1971 #2 July 1970 #3 June 30th 1971

    IBM Card 1971 Duster 340

I had read that Chrysler has the records but they are on the old computer reels when computers were the size of entire rooms and that it would cost millions to translate and decode and there is no profit in doing that for Chrysler.

    IBM Card 1971 Duster 340

I wonder if it was quality control checking the interior, I see the black bucket seat code. But that's just a guess on my part.

    Rust! Should I sell it?

in NY that's considered a solid car. Patch it up.
  10. 340wedge

Sad day, but I had to put the car away.

When I lived in NY, I would check the fluids, make sure the tires were proper pressure, Sta-bil in a full tank of gas, put some dryer sheets in the interior, put Damprid in the trunk and interior put on the car cover and put on the battery tender. It was in a garage as well. Now in SC i drive...

Dumb Mopar moves - this should be fun

In the early 1990s I sold my 1969 Mach 1 and bought a 1970 "340" Duster for 2 grand. Not a speck of rust on it, buckets, auto, the engine was really built. I had some fun with it, won several street races and sold it within a year for 2 grand! I should have kept that one.

    340 Wedge hood decal change

Not many, the problem is I knew it wasn't right and even though my car isn't a concourse show car I have tried to make it as close as possible to factory correct.

    340 Wedge hood decal change

Yeah I know the engineering drawings took me days to decipher until I was sure the measurements were correct. Having pics of unrestored original cars also helped gauge that I was in the right direction.

    V21 ,v24 on. 1971 duster 340

Would V21 be the ladder hood black out that was used on Duster Twisters? It would be curious and I do not think I have ever seen one on a 340 car. I do believe you could buy the 340 wedge hood decal from the dealer back in the day but that would not show on the fender tag.

What Are You Doing To/With Your Car Today?

Time to redo the Sharktooth and paint it with the correct black and silver. I also had to plastic weld one broken tab. Next comes a weeks worth of taping!

Speedometer cable / new firewall rubber grommet

I had bought a replacement grommet and the vendor suggests to place a socket through the grommet to spread it. A socket just big enough for the speedo cable head to fit through. Some dawn dish soap or lube may assist as well.

Do Mopars with High Impact colors bring more money?

They can bring more money but there are variables such as people's likes and dislikes. The idea behind the colors was a youth oriented thing, your square parents didn't have loud colored cars and being young and rebellious the loud colors were in. Now that we have matured, hell got old lol, the...

    Original Go Mango vs new

My 2006 Charger Daytona is Go Mango. It has some metal flake, looks great in the sun but in the shade it's a dark copper color that is kind of boring in my opinion.

Mecum Thursday, Another Duster goes for big bucks

Decals in the wrong positions, no rubber between the rear bumper and tail panel, something looks off about the upper radiator support and there are no cutouts for the hood pins that would be on 1971 fenders, Just a few observations.

    Trunk mats

Does anyone have any experience with the best quality trunk mat. (1971 Duster) I know none are exact OEM. I have the REM brand one but looking for something a little better. I am looking at ACC, Legendary Auto Interiors, and Metro Moulding which is 3x the cost of the others.

What Are You Doing To/With Your Car Today?

Yes it's crazy! Everything is going up and not by small increments. The spare I got is date coded to my car which was cool. For a 50 year old tire it has almost no dry cracking, albeit I'd never put it on the car, for show only.
