    Sandbags in pickup bed, placement?

I had a friend in high school with a LRE, he hung a piece of railroad rail (about 200lbs) on the frame right behind the rear bumper. It helped a little.

    Degreasing Engine???

I use Simple Green and purple Power, which ever is on sale. They both work pretty well, can't tell which is better, but you also need to get a brush for parts cleaning, tooks like a big round paintbrush. The Simple Purple (which ever one you use) will soften up the grease, but you need to knock...

Got an 83 Ram Charger with a 440 today!

Looks Great! I had an '85 a few years back (actually built it for my wife) it was 2wd, but she wanted something that looked meaner, so I lifted it abot 2" and fit 31" mudkings under it. It had a 360 and I also turned the duals out in front of the rear tire. Dual exhaust took it from 7 to 10 mpg...

    What was I thinking..........

You may also want to try and lower the seat. I'm 6'1", 280, and I HATE staring at the sunvisor!! My wife is 5'2, 110, and I sometimes drive her Mercury Villager. Bad enough driving a minivan, but with her CD holder on the visor I can only see about 10' in front of the hood! Personally I like...

To Tint, or not to Tint?

I think tint really improves the apearance of any car by making it look less cluttered. When the original shape is designed (in clay) the windows are not see-through and are part of the design, and like a previous poster said, all modern cars have the windows tinted in ads and comercials. That...

To Tint, or not to Tint?

I have also tinted all my cars since the mid '80s and only twice had any trouble. Once I got pulled over for speeding and the officer really, really wanted to give me something else. I had insurance -check, had mufflers - check, wanted to check my tint, but he didn't have a meter, so he gave me...

I have used long shackles and air shocks, both sucked.

To Tint, or not to Tint?

I am a big fan of tint. I have tinted all my cars and now when I ride in one without it, it feels like I'm in a fishbowl. I even tinted my '72 Dart 3 seperate times, and yes, the rear window was a challange. I tinted it first with cheap (Gila) film, then sprayed it with tint in a spray can. I...

    A-body Air Grabber??

Just my 2 cents - Why make it complicated? You could open/close it with a universal choke cable. It would not open automaticly, but then you wouldn't have to worry about sucking in a bunch of RAIN!

    3-on-the-tree?

Manual transmision can give you the edge in MPG if you drive it right, but driving style is much more important than trans type (or even engine size) for MPG. The great thing about a manual is that you choose your shift points, smooth or agressive, MPG or MPH, it's all up to you. Did anyone...

    3-on-the-tree?

If you do a floor conversion, go ahead and spring for a good shifter. I went through 3 or 4 cheapo shifters and eventually rounded the "ears" on the transmission. Not sure what you call them, the D-shaped knobs that go into the trans to shift it. anyway, I ended up welding the linkage to the...

    3-on-the-tree?

Oh, one other thing about it binding up. If the lincage does bind up, only use your hands to work it free. Don't get angry and jam a big old flathead between then and pop them loose. If you do, it just makes it sloppier and easier to jam. Been there.

    3-on-the-tree?

It's the same 'H' pattern as 3 on the floor - R up and close, 1 down and close, 2 up and away, 3 down and away. Look for slop in the column linkage. Shift from 1-2, 2-1, R-3 and 3-R severl times (through the middle of the 'H') to feel for bind. You will get the hang of pulling the lever...

New Dodge Logo, what you think?

I like it a lot! I hope they keep it long enough to become iconic like the penstar and (even) the ramhead. Kind of reminds me of the viper emblem.

    Am i crazy?

Trust me on this. Unless you want a mail-order camaro, or mustang, buy something newer, or buy something someone else has already done the work on, any resto is going to be just as tough. Just keep your head on, fix what you have to, when you have to. Don't go nuts and yank the (running?)...

    Oh joy...NOT

I feel for you, brother. 2 weeks ago I went out to warm my car up to go to work, door was frozen shut. Ok, I got it open, Battery dead. Bad enough, right? Now the door would not latch! I just kept slamming it and it would bounce back open. I propped the door shut with a window squeegee-thing I...

minor surface rust or . patina

Why is it that that look on a '40, '50, or even early '60 looks cool, but on a musclecar you look like Joe Dirt? It just gives me the willies because even if you clearcoat it, that stuff does not stop eating your car! Is there a proper term for rust-o-phobia?

    Any Tips Or Tricks

Here's a trick I have used. It may not look right, might be just the "pop" you need. After you shoot on the argent, apply glue to the raised parts with a hard roller or very stif brush and then put on silver leaf (hobby store sell leaf and adhesive). Burnish it with a soft cloth, shoot it with...

    Swinger 4 door?

Yeah, that's actually the reason I de-chromed and de-badged my '72 back in '86. Also made it look more like a ferrari with black bumpers... and vent windows.

    Swinger 4 door?

Maybe I have been looking at it wrong all these years, but I thought the whole point of the swinger badge was to make the car seem cooler, more "hip". I can't see "swingers" driving a 4-door. Maybe a (shaggin')wagon, LOL. But hey, I've been wrong countless times before.
