I guess this is the best proof of what color the top mecanism had from start. These are the rubber boots that goes on the sides of the rear bow. The rear bow is mounted with two screws and on top these rubber boots cover the screws. This car had white rubber boots so I'm pretty sure is came with...

My 65 Dart Charger has a black top with black mecanism. The one I'm restoring for a friend of mine had white top and white mecanism. It hadn't been repainted since new.

What I have seen over the years is that black frames goes with a black top and white frame with a white top.

How is the white plastic cups in the window frame?

Yes, you can adjust the hooks in the mecanism so it snaps when you lock it.

You can buy them on ebay. Remember that the repopped ones does not have the fit a convertible requires. You need to att some extra material to get a tight fit. So if you can re-use your old one I would take that trip!
