    Grinding Noise!!

I would do the same after he said it seemed OK. See what happens, it may just have been low on fluid.

    A904 Woes.. not working right..

Rebuilt my first and only one 3 or 4 years ago. Still beating on it. Wouldn't hesitate to do another one.

    A904 Woes.. not working right..

Are you planning on rebuilding it yourself? If you can pull it, you can rebuild it. If you rebuild it, you'll know it is correct.

1973 904 leaking from bellhousing inspection plate

There are two different rebuild books out there. One written by a member here, Tom Hand. I have an old video another member emailed me. I can email it to you if you PM me your address. Did my first rebuild about 4 years ago using a book and video only. Keep it clean as possible. Been...

    1968 A904 Transmission Rebuild kit?

Another vote for A&A. They answer when you call and will not steer you wrong to make a buck. I have an old Chrysler transmission video another member emailed me that I used along with Tom's book. If you PM me your email address I'll email it to you. Its great to stop and rewind until your...

    Torque Converter ring gear question

Yup. I was very reluctant having remembered how the late 70's, early 80's converters acted I the street. Surprised at how well the new PTC 3500 behaved on the street when I got it four years ago.

Cone style suregrip synthetic gear lube.

I have a 5.9 Magnum and 8.75 with 3:23's. I bought the cone Sur-Grip from a fellow FABO member. He rebuilt it before he sold it to me.

Cone style suregrip synthetic gear lube.

I put in a cone style about 3 years ago. I beat on it regularly on the street and haven't had a problem yet.

Making The Weak 7-1/4 Rear Axle Live... Kinda

My first car, a 1972 Duster, had a stock 318 with a 7 1/4. I worked after school pumping gas and helping the owner in a garage. One day I power brake the car in the gas station parking lot and bang..... Owner says "I'll order up some spider gears and you can help me replace them tomorrow"...

Trans going back into car questions

I know that feels good. I'm not real good with the later wiring. I would post in the electrical forum, there are a ton of folks that know it well.

Trans going back into car questions

Just wrestle the trans onto the jack. I have used a block of wood to level it some, then slowly jack it up until you get it where you need. When I worked at a shop many years ago we had a trans jack. They are gold, but I don't need to do it enough to justify buying one.

Trans going back into car questions

Do you have enough room to get the floor jack under the trans?

Trans going back into car questions

...while my other leg is pressed against "something" for leverage, lol. Hope it goes well, it's a sense of accomplishment when it slides in all the way to the bell housing.

Trans going back into car questions

I generally use two arms/hands and my leg to move/wrestle the jack and trans.

    A904 complete rebuild.

There is also an old school Chrysler video on rebuilding. I used the video and the book when rebuilding one for the first time. If you PM me your email address, I'll email you a copy. It's nice to be able to stop, go back and re-watch areas. I did that a bunch. Oh, and what everyone...

    Easiest 727/904 rebuild thread...

Why not go on every build thread and disparage the guy...or gal...who is trying to help others? Why limit it to transmission rebuilds? If I can't be of help, I won't post It's not productive to go on a thread and bad mouth someone just trying to help others.

    Easiest 727/904 rebuild thread...

I have only rebuilt one transmission. Just one! I'm pretty sure no one was born into this world having rebuilt 1000 transmissions, which means everyone started by rebuilding their first one. EVERYONE!! When I was preparing to rebuild my first transmission, I researched. I bought a book, I...

    Easiest 727/904 rebuild thread...

I've been following your thread @j par . It was comments from you that prompted me to rebuild a 904 for the first time to go behind a 5.9 Magnum that was my first complete engine build. I agree with you...anyone can do it. This thread will help others decide to learn, have fun, save money...

Comp Cams Factory Tour & Behind The Scenes: How Does a Performance Camshaft Get Made?

Great video, thanks for sharing! I see they have some Landis grinders. During high school I went to Vo-tech for machine shop. After graduating, I worked at Landis Tool Company running a manual turret lathe. We made Cam Grinders, crank grinders, and valve grinders that were sold to the...

Remote Trans Cooler needed or not?

My PTC is tight...until you punch it. Then it slips to about 3600!!! It's 3 years old and normal driving you would think it was stock. I'll go with the recommendation of the owner of a well known torque converter company.

Remote Trans Cooler needed or not?

I would do what others have said and get a plate style and mount it in front. Or you could replace the radiator with one that has a trans cooler. When I bought my PTC torque converter I asked Kenny about the need for a cooler. He recommends an axillary cooler for any higher stall converter.

3.23 Open 8.75 diff needs to go

You'll feel a difference but if you're not going to be cruising long on the highway I think you'll be fine. Here's a calculator to figure RPM's at a given speed. Spicer Engine RPM Calculator

    Remote Transmission Cooler Installation Hardware

Sorry man, been watching some college football!! I ran the stock line to my radiator then out the radiator using the Derale to the external cooler, from the external cooler back to the return line to the transmission, just sliding the hose over the line (you can see the nut just pushed back)...

I used your first choice. No problems in a couple - three years. And you can't see it without crawling under the car.
