Jim, is that a B or an RB? It also depends on valve covers, I tried some aluminum ones but they would not fit, my stamped steel are a bit shorter and fit fine though.

RB in a barracuda, you will most likely need to change the heater motor (Napa has a smaller diameter and shorter one) and if you have power brakes, your booster may hit the valve cover in the driver side.

I originally wanted to drop mine in from the top as well, but followed advice on this forum and dropped the k-frame instead. On the plus side, you don't need to take the hood off! Mine is a RB though, so taller than a B engine.(would hit heater motor and brake booster) I can't speak to dropping...

I put the engine and trans combo with the headers on already onto the k-frame and then lowered the car onto it.

I got one with a performer intake, milodon pan, MSD mini-starter, and alt/PS pump and all the brackets for 300$. most of them here in CL go for 3-500.... some with a tranny for that. (most are out of motor homes)

I hope so... that is what I am in the middle of doing to mine! I have not heard that you need to cut up the hood.... I would imagine if you did, it would be mentioned in all of the threads about putting a 440 in an a-body.

You have said a number of times, free exhaust, I am assuming you mean stock exhaust manifolds going into a free-flowing exhaust? It sounds like you want to keep that since changing would be difficult. I would go with a 318. Exhaust ports on the 360 will probably be too big for your exhaust...

I don't know about the BB headers but I had to shim my SB to get the TTIs to fit right. I"d check their site for the tect article no the engine position.
