    Mechanical Diode Converters?

Just had a local guy rebuild my 727 to go behind my 99% street driven 440 With 520hp and 535 ftlbs as per the dyno. He wants to sell me a converter he has. 245mm with billet back cover, furnace brazed with mechanical diode, low stall stator. To be honest whats required in a performance...

    Worth the effort?

Part of this continued in another topic but to sum things up where I am at. Borrowed a carb from the engine shop, a 750 Mighty Demon. Bog was still there not as bad but mid range and top end? WOW pulled so much harder. Pinging was still there dropped down from the stock autolite 65 plugs to...

    Worth the effort?

Good suggeston, I have the valve cover off already when I was looking at the rockers on the driver's side. Hughes website says all their cams are built with a 3deg advance so even if they lined it up dot to dot and it was bang on by chance it'd be thre deg advanced. Maybe the engine shop was...

    Worth the effort?

It's a 255/60/15 rear tire which works out around 26" if I rememebr correctly. Even from a slow roll and into WOT the engine will still lay over. I bought the gears new as 3.55's and cruiseing on the highway at 60mph rpms are around 2800. The only constant with all these builds has been...

    Worth the effort?

Well all three shop have all said it is NOT the carb and all have tuned it with the same result. The engine is 3 years old and only summer driven. It was built by a reputable local shop. The bill states it was blueprinted but unfortunatly they never gave me any of the internal numders...

    Worth the effort?

Here are the specs on whats in the car, off the line performance has been dismal from day one, lays over with a nice bog. Hell I've even managed to get it to stall a few times. It's been tuned by me and my Dad-a mechanic of 30 plus years- The shop that built the engine used a 4 gas analyzer...

    Worth the effort?

It's only pulling about 12" of vacuum so I am going to start with checking and re lashing all the valves. Again I am going to do a compression test. The engine is only two years old and has run like this from day one. If the engine has issues I'm gonna be mad as hell as it'll be the 2nd...

    Worth the effort?

It wasn't a bargin basement converter it's an SMR unit. The engine's state of tune is questionable because off the line the bog is terrible as is performance for the first few feet until you can get some rpm into it. It WILL NOT even spin a tire, I gave up and after getting a recomendation...

    Worth the effort?

Basis of the question is after getting a 2nd and 3rd opinion my year old 3000rpm advertised.recomended convertor will only flash around 2500rpm and is the cause of my gutless off the line performance. Now the 727 in the car is in good shape iternally BUT many of the holes in the case are...

    Precision Performance Products Shifter

Looking at replaceing my Hurst Pro-matic 2 in my Duster with either a Cheetah SCS or the PPP Kwick shift. I've seen the install and hook up pics of the Cheetah but can't find anything on the PPP. Has anyone here run them? I HATE the adjustment on my Hurst which is why I liked the 727 sized...

    Lazy Shifting

Found the following link on moparts and followed through the instructions. My lower rod was pretty out of adjustment. When I get the car on the road in the next few weeks time will tell. http://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=5862585&Main=5855485

    Lazy Shifting

It was a repro kit on e-bay, looks to be all correct and better then the hacked up stuff that I removed from the car. Shift kit was done at the trans shop who did the rebuild. I've contemplated a 4 speed swap but just can't cut the price to do so.

    Lazy Shifting

I had the lokar cable and it was worse, I played with it for months and never found the sweet spot, went to a factory kickdown and it was much better. I've adjusted the kickdown plenty but I end up with a trade off even higher rpms when cruiseing to get 2nd gear, again a pain to be pushing...

    Lazy Shifting

Vehicle is a mostly steet drive 71' Duster with a mild 340. The car has all it's kick down linkage and a transgo stage 2 shift kit but I have never cared for the way the car shifts. When cruising it's picky about the rpm it will take to attain 2nd or 3rd gear which on a residential street can...

    Re-useable Pan Gasket

Looking for the torque spec on the mopar 727 re-useable pan gasket. I torqued it to 10ftlbs as per the instructions with my summit racing aluminum pan but It's leaking a little. How tight would you go?

    Persision Performance Shifter

THinking of changing my shifter in my 727 71 Duster. Currently have a Hurst promatic 2 but adjusting it sucked and the plate on the side with headers makes access tough. I've seen pics of a cheetah scs which is one possibility the other from a cool stand point and some praise I've heard was...

Was looking at going back to a factory shifter in my console as the cable one never amazed me much and a friend mentioned trying to retrofit a slapstick into the car and I found somthing that looks better yet. Anyone ever used one? http://www.duncan-motor-sports.com/2.html

    Best Deep Pan?

I have a mopar stamped steel deep pan on my 727 which I've never been able to keep from leaking cork gasket or the modern re-useable one for a 518. I've seen B&M Has a cast alluminim version and Milodon has one similar to their oilpans with a billet sealing edge. Anyone have other opinions?

    Richmond?

Gettign a quote from the Canadian dealer of Passon -who by the way is out of OD gear sets for 8 odd months I'm told- Asked if I was interested in a Richmond and the fact it was dimensionally smaller then a Tremec and although longer then an 833 it's clam shape build might mean less tunnel work.

    SMR Shortie OD

I've heard good things about SMR from local guys and talked to him on the phone about a convertor sounded like a good guy. I know it's just a gear vendors overdrive but their tailshaft is different in that it's only 7 1/4 inches longer total where as most guys are useing a different longer...

    SMR Shortie OD

Still looking at overdrive options and automatics as well. Has anyone seen or used the SMR Shortie? It's only 7 1/4" longer then a stock 727, I'm just waiting on a price quote from them. Also waiting on a price for the Keisler automatic -yes I know it's of GM origin- Again anyone with...

    Price for package deal?

I'm looking at going to the Keisler 5 speed and am wondering what a fair price for a 727 rebuilt with 2000miles behind a mild street driven small block is worth? It was professionally rebuilt with recipts. Redline racing clutches and kevlar bands as well as a transgo shift kit. It has a...

    Mancini Driveshaft

Just waiting on a shipping quote to see if it's feesable. Little confusion though after looking in my Mopar catalog and Mancini's site. On a 741 case how many splines does the pinion have? I want to replace the yoke with the style that takes u-bolts rather then straps. Also contemplating...
