Got spark at the coil and no fire? It tried to start then nothing happened. I put it in the run posistion with the timing light hooked up and nothing? I'm totally stumped.

Steve, I think I located the wire. Is it the blue with white stripe from the bulkhead and factory soldered to a soild blue and yellow wires. Bill

opps my mistake it is the brown wire from the ignition switch that has power in the run.

The brown wire I'm using has power in the run pos. it was the old coil pos. wire. It runs from the two wires that are seperate from the bulkhead going thru the firewall.

Steve, I'm tracing down that wire in the bulkhead I removed them (wanting to make things cleaner duh) will that wire have juice in the start pos. only? I really appreciate all of your help! Thanks, Bill

Got the car home and performed the MSD check test and I do have spark from the unit. I'll hook up the blue wire from the old ballast with a different distrubutor and try it.

I'll have to trace it down. Is that wire only hot in the start pos. or start and run? Thanks, Bill

Thanks Steve I will try it when I get the car home. I only have the brown wire run to the MSD unit. Without the blue wire could this be the issue? And where do I trace the blue wire from? Is it the same blue wire running to the altenator? Bill

Well that didn't last too long it did the same thing again! I have to tow the car home later and take everything out again. The frustration level is going thru the roof. I will try a new box and a different distributor. Is there any way to check to see what is causing this? Everything works...

Thanks to all that offered help and sugestions. I took out the distributor and checked the reluctor, cap and rotor. The rotor tip was to far away from the edge of the cap which caused arcing inside the cap and overworking the MSD unit. I put the old cap and rotor on with the new unit. Fired...

I have done the wiring per the MSD instructions. I just picked up the new box. I'm removing all of the old wiring from the previous MSD unit and starting over. I will check in later with the progress. Bill

Last night I rechecked all of the connections everything is correct. Still won't fire, hooked up another MSD 6A box and viola fired right up! So now I will send back the old box to MSD for a spare. Bill

The red MSD wire I connected to the original coil source per the instructions. So I should connect both sides of the resistor toghether and then to the red wire from the MSD? Bill
