That would probably be the best option. I think they also do a trans brake VB now, way overkill but would be a lot of fun...

Don't give up now man. I'm sure with the guys on here you'll be able to sort it out soon, might take a little bit of effort but it's gonna be worth it....

Great job Jeff, this is great info for other people who would otherwise not even contemplate trying to rebuild a trans. I love how you have gone to the trouble of explaining where you went wrong too. It's going to be a great help.

Oh I see, there is an adjustment screw and nut on the other band....

    Jeff's 727 rebuild thread

I was just reading up on it and some people suggest turning out the adjustment screw 2-2.5 turns from start. Did you have an adjustment to do on the band before you installed it or do you only use the adjustment screw on the outside casing?

I'm getting real bad slip from 1st to 2nd now and I'm wondering if I can adjust it by dropping the pan or is it a tranny out job?? ....waiting to see if yours needs adjustment and what you need to do.

Keep at it man. I've seen heaps of threads on motor builds, not so many tranny builds. It almost seems too easy.

Great, can't wait. There was a guy from Sydney Australia who has a transmission workshop and did a good step by step video on youtube, made it look a synch and was capable of lots of power. I would love to put a trans brake in one but looks like a not so straight forward process.

Subscribed. I can't wait to see if it's easy or not, might have one to do myself coming up.

    HELP/WANTED/NEED

Is there supposed to be a lip they come up against or is there a taper on the axle?

    HELP/WANTED/NEED

How do you know when the green bearings are all the way home on the axle?

    HELP/WANTED/NEED

Not to hijack anyone elses thread here but when my fella built the diff centre he removed the thrust block. I'm having problems installing the rear disk brakes on an 8 3/4 diff. I had to install green bearings on my axles due to using the rear disk brakes.

    HELP/WANTED/NEED

I take it if you can see through the centre chunk through the little hole to the other side, that the thrust block is removed? Correct me if I'm wrong.

The photo was taken before the notch was done, but is done now. I manged to get the motor to sit in properly now but not without using the iron bar to wedge it forward.

Well that could be it. But when I did a trial fit of the mounts it looked like they could only go on one way. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/59804207/IMAG0532.jpg http://dl.dropbox.com/u/59804207/IMAG0533.jpg
