    Flywheel identification

This is a forged crank engine with the correct balancer. The engine vibrates and I'm assuming the flywheel is incorrect.

    Flywheel identification

Sorry, it's a 70 340. I know there are multiple externally balanced engines. I'm just trying to determine if this is an externally balanced flywheel.

    Flywheel identification

Looks like an external balance one to me.

    Flywheel identification

I'm working on a 340 4-speed car that has a vibration. It's a 70 AAR Cuda. I'm wondering if it's obviously visible to see the difference between an externally balanced and internally balanced flywheel while in the car.

    Shifter cable 65 barracuda.

Is there a way to connect the cable shifter in my 65 Cuda to a later trans with the shift lever? Anyone try this?

I got a good deal and need advise

I'd buy a couple cans of brake clean and spray out the gears and case, prob wouldn't spray water in there. Back lash is around 10 thou measuring on the ring gear teeth.

    A500 torque converter

Thanks, this is a guy I work with doing this swap. Personally I wouldn't, but I'm the parts guy at a dealership and get the joy of finding him parts.

    A500 torque converter

Also, where can I get a new trans yoke for one of these. I think they are the same as a 904?

    A500 torque converter

Looking for a 2500ish stall for a A500 lock up. Any suggestions or manufacturers that people have EXPERIENCE with. Not just i've heard or read about. Does anyone know what the low gear ratio is in a 1991 A500? Thanks.

    a500 ?

GUy I work with is planning on putting an a500 overdrive in his duster. Any tips or suggestions for upgrades, converters, etc. It has a slightly built 360 Magnum in it now.

I did that. And it vibrates.

    Bad vibes

I had it checked at another shop. It was off and the stub had some run out. Its a lot better, but still not gone. Another 66 bucks, and still have an issue. I'm ready to find an original shaft put the 7 1/4 back in and start over. When I got the car I could do 80mph all day and had no vibes...

    Bad vibes

Got the shaft back and they said they changed the balance a little. Still ain't right. Vibes strt coming on bad at 72-73 mph and just get worse. Really bad at 80. I can even feel it a little around 45-50, then smoothes out a little at about 65. Buts always there. I don't know what to do at...

    4000 rpm's at 60, no 3rd?

You need the Edelbrock Mopar throttle adapter, I bet you carb doesn't even open all the way as is. That position on the throttle linkage where it is now is for Chevy's. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/EDL-1843/Application/?prefilter=1

Not sure what my problem is!!!!!!!!

What cam do you have and whats the idle rpm.? A stock 12 inch 440 converter will not work well with a lot of duration and low vacuum. What is the rear gear ratio? That will account for it screaming at cruising speed.

    vibration

What engine? Some require weighted flex plates or converters. I have ran into this issue before.
  22. Babyblue66

    Bad vibes

I sure does feel like a shaft way out of balance. I was charged 40 bucks for balancing though. I don't know how they do it, but I'd like to see their process. Not that I know better, but I know that many times **** just isn't done the way it should be.

Its drive train related, not wheel, axle or tire related. I figure it out

65 Barracuda 273, 8 3/4 out of a 71 Duster, auto. Stock trunion type shaft with new u-joint recently balanced. Vibrates like hell on acceleration, real bad when your on it hard, smooth on decel. Smooths out real nice at about 70mph. Had a new shaft made with 2 joints and a slip yoke, brand...

    Transmission Fluid Change

I always use type f. I wouldn't use synthetic in an old trans. Maybe others here have with good results. I'm not sure the newer synthetic atf is designed for the older trannys.

    "Converter change" how much improvement...

Then would a 27-2800 stall be a bit on the high side. If you're already making good usable torque at 2000, you'll likely be wasting some of that with a higher stall. That cam has small @ .050 numbers. I personally wouldn't go higher than a 2500. But thats just my opinion.

    742? 741?

I have a 741 in my 70 Coronet with a built 440. When I was younger I beat the crap out of that thing every time I drove it! Its still fine, just the cone posi crapped out. Oh wait, I mean sure grip. Better state that before someone rips me a new one.
  29. Babyblue66

    742? 741?

I was thinking the same. My car changes that much or more as the temp and wind changes. A different sized pinion shaft ain't going to change anything in quarter mile times.

    DIY Wheel bearing?

If they're on the axle you'll need a press. If they're in the housing you'll need a slide hammer. Not sure on the 7 1/4's.
