If this is the case then 3.91's will put you closer to peak rpm in 4th as you cross the stripe, which is what you want. That being said I'm not sure 3.91's will make THAT much of a difference, or atleast get you to that peak point. I'd say 4.10 or 4.30's would probably get you there but those...

I'm running 255/60/15 BFG Radials on my 67. (So are alot of folks here) Had to run a 1/4" spacer though since my wheels are 5" backspacing. If they were 4.5" I would have been ok. I just barely clear my leaf spring clamps now w/ plenty of room to the fender. (Everything's all stock on my car)...
