Nothing wrong with Autolite plugs. In fact, I won't use anything else....in anything I own that uses spark plugs. My 440 had Autolite 85's in it when I bought it. The car wouldn't run for squat, and would constantly stall. I replaced them with 86's, and it's been running like a scalded moose...

The painted ones (1157a) didn't work very well, or for very long as you can see. The paint used to peel. The preferred bulb was the 1157NA (Natural Amber) and lasted as long as any clear bulb would have.

I don't know where you got this info from, but, for example, the Autolite #86 is the plug recommended for 69 Corvette with SHP 350. Maybe the application is the same for 318 engine, but that doesn't mean it's a "low performance" plug. Best of Luck to you if you decide to spend unnecessary funds...

I've been using Autolite plugs for 30 years. BB Mopar #65 SB Mopar #86. Those 2 plugs seem to last the longest, and run very well. Good Luck! George

And if that doesn't work, check to see if all the wires are pushed onto the headlight switch correctly. Sometimes the wires can come loose from the shell and not make contact to the switch. George

The park sitch is located under the flat cover of the wiper motor. Basically just a couple of flat steel "switches" tell the motor to park. There are also a few different positions for the park switch so the wipers will set in the right spot on the glass. Take the cover off and check it out...

If you open the switch up it is very simple inside; just a few brass contacts and a slide. You can clean the old grease out, clean the contacts, regrease it and reassemble it in about 15 minutes. George

It might be something as simple as a weak battery. Let it go for a couple of days and see if it settles back down. The system might just be doing it's job and recharging a low battery. George

My 69 Swinger has a 10ga wire from the pass rear cylinder head to the firewall, but the neg battery cable is also bolted to the front of the drivers cylinder head. Hope this helps. George
