works better than a h-pipe since 'extra' exhaust gasses don't just kinda hang out in the H. The passing exhaust pulses through the X help scavange through the other bank, kinda venturi effect as well, speeds up gasses :D

I may have a little more room in my ebody than you. but i stick my socket on the plugs, and use a short either crescent wrench or 7/8" stubby wrench and just turn the top of the plug socket. And are you asking about your plug wires hitting tubes? summit sells these kind of rails that work...

Plain white gaskets here. Old trick is to soak them in water overnight, install them, wait a few hours before firing it back up too. They will swell and conform better.

go 2 1/2" especially since you are starting from scratch. you'll bottleneck pretty good going from the 3" collectors to 2" exhaust pipe in my opinion.

long lasting and good looking paint for headers is almost unheard of from what ive tried. I think eastwood makes something good for manifolds that you apply with a foam brush. it will take awhile, but ive heard that works very well.

hell i have 3" and i never cap my cutouts lol. gained e/t open versus my flowmasters. too big for a 318, but i wont need to redo my exhaust when i put a bigger mill in there. :D

block of wood and a hammer. a very minor ding will solve your problem. Using something square like a little block of wood will make it look like it was supposed to be there.

Your also running manifolds which will fiully seal easier than headers will. Headers will probably need to be tightened once or twice after some good running time.

you have to really torque down on coppers to get a good seal on 'em. 'ol trick for paper style gaskets is to submerge/soak the gaskets in water for a good while. (should help if you double up). this will cause them to swell up a little (aka conform better). Install them, and let 'em dry out...

ive double gasketed headers before with no issues or ill effects. TTIs have really thick flanges and should be able to compress them just fine..

pretty much any header in a abody willbe a pain to install. unless you go for the million dollar TTi's, but ive heard a couple stories on them too. Personally i would run headers, i dont mind dealing with leaks, pain spark plug changes, and sacrificed ground clearance lol.

Ive tried VHT and Duplicolors paint, lasted all of about a day. I'm thinking the stuff eastwood sells would be your best bet. prep em like crazy, i think they have something you apply with a foam brush that holds up well on the manifolds

I have 3" on my motor thats much milder than yours. May not be ideal, but i have room to grow without havig to mess with the exhaust :thumblef: With your combo i'd run 3"...just my 2cents. -Mike
