Nearly killed myself in the Dart today! :(

If I remember correctly, there were some defective ones being sold a couple years ago. I returned one of them I bought off of ebay due to improper fit, but there was also an issue with the wrong material being used to make them. Is that what happened here?

Stolen 1962 Dodge Lancer Station Wagon DFW Texas

Reading this just made me sick at my stomach. I hope you get it all back in nice shape very soon.

Possibly the ugliest Barracuda I have ever draged home, But it is so cool!

That car will be gorgeous when you are done with it. I thought those half vinyl tops on the 66s was cool. Nice find, very nice find.

    1965 Plymouth Barracuda Leaf Springs

For the price, there is no way I would mess with used springs again, especially with shipping costs being what they are. I have purchased new ones, for the last two cars I have done, from here. One of them was a 65 Barracuda, and you will love their knowledge and service. Good luck with your...

    65 barracuda 4 spd Bellhousing

They were for a 9 1/2 inch clutch, or 9 inch. I had one in 66 and would smoke that little clutch regularly.

    273 commando V8 badge

Oops, misread the post and misunderstood the question, my bad If it has the large square cutout on the rear valance on the drivers side, for the resonator, it came with the commando motor.

    Nice Barracuda being parted

It has been a long time, but that is what I did with my drag car. But at least it didn't get cut up. Nobody had the $$$ for the whole thing, but the pieces brought the $$$ quicker.

Wow, nice job! I didn't notice where you were from until seeing the steering wheel on the starboard side. :D no heater?

    D-dart links

Great information, thanks! Great reading. I have always wondered about the brand new, 4 speed, 66 Dart, that Harold's Texaco in Wichita Kansas had. At the time, I was only 16, and worked at the Vickers station right across the street. It was a drag race only Dart, and they painted "El...

    Odd Dodge

Did you buy it? Does it have a 413 or 440? I would love to have it.

Who in the right mind would do THIS to a '66 Dart??

No doubt about that, as I remember being 17, and having some pretty tacky "improvements" to my 64 Barracuda. Dad still kids me about the wood paneling door panels, I made for my 57 Fury. :-D

Who in the right mind would do THIS to a '66 Dart??

:-D Looking at the date on the picture, maybe this is what he hopes it will look like next year. It is hilarious, but looks 1000 times cooler than the tan 4 door Altima down the street from me, with a huge "tri wing" bolted to the trunk with plastic walmart hub caps. :toothy10:

what type exhaust to use on a 65 cuda commando?

I enjoyed my dealings with Accurate, good people. I bought the 2 1/2 inch stainless tips from them. They made very sure that I knew they were stainless and not chrome. That impressed the heck out of me.

what type exhaust to use on a 65 cuda commando?

Welcome to FABO! I guess it depends on what you are going for. If you want original, single, with the wonderful sounding, high buck resonator would be in order. Back in the day, I put duals on mine, and I put duals on the recent 65 resto-mod I did for my Dad. Of course, TTI is the best...

Opinions on value of '66 Valiant with 273 Commando

Does the roll of carpet come with it? :D The finished values of these cars has dropped so much, that it needs to be reflected in the unfinished prices. They seem to still be high for some reason. Just my 2 cents, but I would say $1200 due to the neat factor, of it being such a cool car...

    Commando Chrome Tip

I remember the splash those cars made when the 65s came out. The Commando was brand new for 65, and you could hear them blocks away. I wanted one so bad I could taste it.

Welcome to Fabo, sounds like you found a nice one. Not sure if the 64 top is similar to my 68 or not, but you might find this thread both entertaining, and informative. The top was one of the few things that worked on my car when I got it. I have a shop manual for mine, and the system...

    When is a 63 not a 63?

Nice car! The friend of mine that sold me my Hemi RR, had the real thing, identical to this, but a 330. Same color, the whole bit. It had less than 300 miles on it, when he got unheard of money, $30,000.00 in the early 90s.

    Oldschoolcuda saved by stranger

Sorry to hear you had the problem, but it was a great story. I have never seen gas do that to paint, is there some kind of explanation to what has changed to make it do that?

    65 dart trunklid lock

It is probably just slightly twisted, it doesn't take much. As they have tabs that the lock mechanism can catch on. Oh, and another possibility, if it has had a repaint that they didn't remove it for, it could be paint stuck.

    Early A-body Spitfire headers

Well that is a whole different issue than I faced. I wanted to get rid of the 1 year only 65, cable shifted (front u-joint name is escaping me, Detroit joint?) obsolete front u-joint tranny. I built this car like it was going to be for me, upgraded the weaknesses (7 1/4 gone in favor of 8 3/4...

    Early A-body Spitfire headers

Thanks! They could have worked, but I didn't like them as well as the Spitfires as far as hooking up the exhaust pipes goes. I didn't have any steering column or motor mount issues that I remember. My only problem with the Spitfires, is the "imperial services" adapter cable interferes, that I...

    Early A-body Spitfire headers

I used a set of them in the 340/65 Barracuda I built for my Dad. Harold was easy to communicate with then, and I had no issues, but that was 2007. I had him send them C.O.D. as people had told me to do. I have heard he is not communicating well lately, hopefully that has changed. All the...
