Finally!!!!! After replacing everything under the hood that had to do with cooling, I replaced Radiator today with a Champion 26" 3 core and problem GONE !!!!! , Thanks everyone for your thoughts and comments from my previous post, this has been driving me crazy, I had my old radiator...

I was wondering about this also ....... when I get on my car hard, it squeels like like crazy ...... normal take off or idling nothing ,,,,,,,was wondering if one belt slipping would cause this. Also was wondering if A/C unit would make a squealing noise?

The opening for a radiator on my car is 22".......it has a 22" radaitor in it now. ........looking at champion 22" and 26" .......with that opening would I be wasting my time with a 26"

Temp difference between upper and lower hose is about 10* ...about 180-170 same across the tank. motor reads as the gauges read 225-230 + Messed with the Timing didn't seem to change nothing .......still looking into that .... ...I'm thinking trying the flush with some sort of...

A/C condenser has been removed just incase it was the reason. ....it did change anything.

Everything is original as far as the air flow through the grill with the exception of a trans cooler which is a radiator looking cooler that lets air flow through it also and only covers 12'' x maybe 10" of radiator ....... and that sets 6" in front of radiator allowing air to flow between the...

I agree with this ....... only I had the same problem before changing water pump.

Thanks for the Reply .....I will try that, i'm kind thinking i did that when I first took everything apart .....not for that reason ,,,just to drain the motor and radiator when I started ...but I will check that out again . After changing all that I have changed I still have the very same...

What is Diagnosis ? Everyone keeps saying ...Bigger Radiator ....If I buy one I plan on at least trying to get a bigger 3 core, but I keep asking myself ......surely it was not running hot in 1972 with the original 2 core. I have had the car for 16 years used to drive it to the Nationals 10...

Thanks, I agree ..Ill have to look back at his thread...Everything seems to keeps pointing back to the Radiator, I'm just not understanding how it can cool off so quickly as soon as I slow down, but then I,m not even close to being an expert on anything I'm more of a remove and replace kinda...

190* i believe ....... my problem is when I get out on the highway it starts to run hot .....like all the way over to the hotline after only 10-15 min at 65-70 mph .......soon has I slow down it immediately starts cooling down ....like in the first mile at 30 mph .....i added a aftermarket gauge...

what is the normal running temp for a 1972 340 at Highway speed, say ......65 mph .....323 gears .... 14 inch tires.. on a 75-80 deg. day ?

Thanks ....... I was told the exact thing at a cruise in tonight on the too long too short thing ...only they added a little more to it ....lol.......... Going to give the spring thing a try.

Having some heating issues at highway speeds, I can drive in the city or in parade for that matter and it can run all day, but when I get on highway 60-70 mph for 30 minutes or so it starts climbing .....so now I'm going through the elimination process. The question I have ...Right now...
