    408/ 904 trans

Who told you 904's uave 2.77 1st? 904's and 727's have 2.45 low. 904's had an option of 2.77 but it is a 998. Mopar speed secrets suggest 2.77 but when the books were written 4" stroke smallblocks didn't exist. 2.44 is more than plenty gear. Actually a 2 spd 1.80 first is more than plenty...

    Mid plate mounting

Mid plates tie the engine to the chassis in the most critcal area. Front plate does not change the necessity. I don't agree with the flexplate spacer to cure midplate spacing. If you look at the pilot in center of torque converter it has a flange that pushes against crank. If you use washers...

    Tech inspection questions

For sfi certification size and wall thickness. Local track tech probably just size and arrangement of cage. Paint is OK. They frown on welds that are ground to cover up bad work.

Why is Pro Stock Dodge down on horsepower ?

Rev limit rules were due to the idea new teams could not afford valve train replacement intervals needed when turning higher rpm. I suspect the ability to turn big rpm was great at Denver. Gear and turn it til it breathes enough air to make power.

Who else is running the R5 P7??

Smartest engine decision I ever made. Been running one for several years.

    What flexplate with Reid bell?

All sorted out. Early Reid bells were deeper. They accommodate the flexplate and converter nicely. But, they are 3/8" longer than JW bells. So Reid shortened up after pressure from racers. You can simply swap out the JW Bell and case and keep running the starter spacers. If you read my...

    What flexplate with Reid bell?

Spacer on crank piloting the gm converter. I don't believe in erector sets or one off converters. Mopar guys should not have to reinvent the wheel when buying parts.

    What flexplate with Reid bell?

Thanks for the info. Just spoke with Dave at ATI. This flexplate 915-660X works. It is sold with a kit which includes a crank adapter spacer 915-630X and bolts 951-471-6. If running 8 bolt hemi pattern. The flexplate is 915-660X. The adapter spacer is 915-660X. Bolts 951-435-8. I am...

    What flexplate with Reid bell?

That plate is the same as quicktime or Hayes RM-947. It may work with ATI bell for their 400 but, I doubt it. When you bolt a flat flexplate to a Mopar crank and bolt a Reid bell the starter ring is closer to the block than the oem gear that was made on the mopar converter. Therefore the...

    What flexplate with Reid bell?

Just curious. Reid racing has bells for both small and big block mopar. Using Ultra glide or turbo glide transmission makes no difference. I was questioned a year or so ago about this. Seems everyone either ran a $500 Mezeire or a $350+ custom JW wheel. The one in the JW kits requires shims...

    JW Ultra Bellhousing (Wanted)

There is no comparison from Reid to JW. For one completely different casting process. The other is Reid bolts to Reid cases as well as the newer BTE case. ATI can alter their 400 case for the Reid bells as well. Look up PG1000 Reid case. You'll quickly see it is not the hacked off stock...

    external oiling system, why?

Good aftermarket blocks have the lifter galley blocked off. You then drill and port around the distributor area and cut holes to drain into the timing cover or into the precut channels in a Webber belt drive. Oil dumping on a crank and rods at rpm does not just fall to the pan. Rather slung...

    Shakedown of the Cuda

You lifted short of the stripe? Wouldn't make that conclusion from the time slip.. The car was actually a little quick in 1/4 for the 1/8 to have lifted.

insurance for drag car with roll cage? Ont

I called a lot of companies. They all had big promises until the actual writer found out I raced the car. Understood no insurance at track. Finally called Heacock in FL. Couldn't be happier.

Do you start your 727 burnout in 1st or second?

You have nothing to worry about with stock valve body sense it has the lor/reverse band applied in low gear. TA and other manual valve bodies without lba are extremely dangerous in low gear.

Dodge R5 bell housing for Reid superglide, turboglide, and BTE case

Those who have no interest in running the R5 are probably sick of reading these post, lol. Have made a few dozen motor passes with the new setup. Last Friday made some nitrous test hits. New shocks are great. Latest suspension setup drives like a sports car on rails. But, very susceptible...

Dodge R5 bell housing for Reid superglide, turboglide, and BTE case

Tested at Rockingham's Mopar event. Perfection as far as the bell and tranny. Can't say as much for using the delay box.. Not a bracket racer.

Dodge R5 bell housing for Reid superglide, turboglide, and BTE case

I knew soon after buying engine with adapter plate from Bob their had to be a simpler solution. I patterned the R5 and LA blocks. Went to JW, ATI, and Reid. Dennis Reid did not blow me off. ATI adapts to an olds bell. JW bolts to pump and I had grown tired of that design and some of its...

Dodge R5 bell housing for Reid superglide, turboglide, and BTE case

Without an adapter you can forget any drag race transmission behind a NASCAR Dodge R5P7 engine. You see them on eBay and racingjunk boating 800+ HP and wonder how you could run one. The big hurdle is gone. For those who want to run a powerglide or turbo 400, I have a bell housing that bolts...

    HOW FAST WITH W2's

you may not have to bush the lifter bores depending on the lifter and if you expose the cavity in the lifter. .640 lift probably needs to be bushed. At 2,900 you should run low 10's

340/360 intake choice for high 11s

I would go back and cut that sharp edge off the dividers. This is probably not what you want. You need air to easily run back and fourth from runner to runner. There are pulses caused by valve opening and closure events as well as piston speed changes that change the speed of air needed to go...

    r 3 combo help

The bolt holes in the valley rail are for valley pans. You do not have to run a bolt. You can convert the block to wet internal pump. A rear main cap and a blueprint to know where and how deep to dril. I wouldn't. Just buy a belt driven pump and never look back. You still use a wet...
