How fast have yall been with W2 econo heads, lokking for some input./

Thanks

A buddy of mine has run nicely into the 10's in a all steel '69 Dart.

10.70's back in the day in a 67 Cuda fb 2950 pounds.

Im running 7.1's in the 1/8 with Econo W2's .Im running them on a 10 to 1 408 with a wimp hydraulic cam of .484 lift and 230 duration ...

They were not Econo W2's. They were the race version with no porting.

Ran 10.76 with a 3400 lb car. Can't remember the MPH

6.76 in the 1/8

360 bored .100" over. Stock crank with JE domed pistons and C&A aluminum rods.

The cam was a cam motion roller. 284/288 .628/.628

Shifted at 7,800

i have got a 360 4.100 bore going to run stock crank. also have je pistons but they are flat tops weigh 400 grams. closed chamber w2's with t&d rockers. i was going to run a soild .620 lift to keep from bushing the lifter bores. i have got a cam dynamics roller .640 lift. hoping for about the same results in a 2900lb dart.

you may not have to bush the lifter bores depending on the lifter and if you expose the cavity in the lifter. .640 lift probably needs to be bushed. At 2,900 you should run low 10's

hey thanks for the info. what did your w2's flow after bowl work & valve job? 11/32 valves? i hate to port my heads because our old lbs/ci rules didn't alow porting. probably never any chance of this kind of racing again any way. before i forget again what was your trans and gear.thanks

Back in the '80's, I had a 2,800lb (with driver) Challenger with a W-2 360 that ran a best of 10.22 at 131 mph. Don't recall exact details, but this is pretty much it:

* Template ported W-2 heads - 2.02"/1.60" valves w 3/8" stems.
* Holley Strip Dominator or Edelbrock Victor intake
* 750 Holley double pump carb - 4779
* 360 between +.030" and +.060".
* Compression 11-1 to 12-1
* Stock rods and stroke.
* Solid flat tappet cam in the .570" - .590" range
(Had Mopar and Crower cams but don't recall more details.)
* Harland Sharp 1.5 roller rockers
* 727 Trans. Converter flash was well over 4000.
* 5.13 Dana 60 w/spool
* 14x32 rear slicks

Non ported W-2's ran mid-10's with similar parts otherwise.

I was shifting at about 7,200, but found it ran just as fast shifting at 6,800!
