    Choke thermostat /RAGE

Was on the car most of the day today. After installing the new gaskets I decided to pull everything and start from scratch. Every hose, fitting, plug, you name it I took it out of the engine compartment and cleaned or replaced it. Pulled the dist. checked the point gap. Used a home made...

    Choke thermostat /RAGE

YES! I'm going to do this after I get the gaskets on. Once I can rule out Vac leak and the issue is still there this is the next step. Although I have slapped a timing light on it lateley and its been fine. Of course this all depends on the rain today haha.

HAHA!! Thats awesome. I just did slantsixdans fuel mod yesterday and checked all the lines. I also found a HUGE leak where the intake and exhaust manifolds connect to eachother under the carb. It wasnt there a few weeks ago but was probably starting. That will be fixed today. New remflex...

    Choke thermostat /RAGE

This electrical is confusing haha. Going to go look for the jumper wire today and hook it up. Now the problem in going from a stop. Driving down the street a stop sign approaches. I let off the gas and apply the brake and come to a complete stop. Everything is running perfectly. To go I let...

    Choke thermostat /RAGE

Yea I haven't had time to mess with the ignition at all. Its been idling great. The idle is fine at a stop as well. But as soon as I let off the brake it starts to die. Sputters and pouts then dies. Bum.. bum... bum. bum.... dead I just did this a few days ago and everything looks good...

    Choke thermostat /RAGE

Well well. Its been a few weeks. I have rebuilt carb, replaced carb, rebuilt that carb, changed plugs and wires, changed coil, replaced fuel filter, adjusted timing, adjusted fuel/air, valve adjustments, and messed with the choke. No vac leaks or any leaks of any kind that I can find. While in...

Yes Bill thank you very much for the help and everything youve done for me. I did take your advice and set the points, checked wiring, replaced plugs and did a full timing on it. After tinkering with it and making sure the dwell and RPM's were good (Thank you for the meter for checking both of...

225 3.7 slant 6 holley 1bl carb Would a faulty choke thermostat cause the car to die while at a stop light or stop sign? Fast idle screw is useless if the choke don't move haha. Everything else seems to be in tip top shape. Grabbed a good carb off billgrissim today (Great guy btw)...

    holley carb question.

Exactly what I needed thank you! Your a life saver. Well after putting it all back together the stall out issue during a stop is actually worse it seems. Although the car runs a million times better during a drive. No more extreme shaking of the engine at higher speeds. Just cant slow down...

    Exhaust leak...

Choke pocket was the culprit for the leak. Is there a gasket that's supposed to be there? Because if there was it was ashes when I unscrewed it and lifted it off lol. I kinda cheated fixing it up..... I used the old exhaust gasket, cut out a hole bigger to fit the bowls underside, threw on some...

    holley carb question.

Im not really looking to buy new. Still thinking of going to a 2bbl or 4. Keeping the cost down as much as possible but I don't want to skimp around either. I will take a closer look at the float tonight. I thought it looked ok but I wasnt really paying to much attention to it specifically...

    holley carb question.

This is what was happening. I am hoping the rebuild will fix this. If not I will be in the market for a new one. I have thoroughly cleaned the carb and all of its components. Crossing my fingers on this one.

    holley carb question.

Thank you!! I am pretty sure it was broke before I bought the car. I bought it a year ago and everything was running fine till about 4 months ago. So I decided to rebuild the carb at the same time as changing manifold studs, gasket, and fixing an exhaust leak (Still hasnt been fixed). Shes...

Before you made the gasket was that area leaking? I'm trying to figure out where the leak is and cannot seem to find it before the exhaust and manifold get to hot to look haha.

    Exhaust leak...

Nothing seemed warped. I looked at the surface as best I could and cleaned it up really good too. I think you may be on to something here. I will take it apart and look at it later tonight when I'm off work. Co worker also thinks the leak is coming from there. Thank you for the link. Im...

    Exhaust leak...

So I had a bad exhaust leak and decided I was going to replace the manifold gasket and the manifold studs. The leak was I thought coming from the gasket as it was torqued all wrong and the studs had been stripped and re-threaded. The leak coming from the red arrow on this photo and you can...

    Manifold stud replacement help

All the old studs but 2 came out with very little issues. One just would not budge but is in good shape so i left it and am using it. The other one took me a half hour of wrenching to get off ugh. All the new studs went in just fine. Thank you Memike for the measurement. Mine were very close...

    Manifold stud replacement help

I do have a tap and did not think of this. Thanks for the info I will run the tap in them before trying to tighten them down. Seems to be a mix of opinions on the torque of these. Some have said 10 and some have said 22 and many inbetween. Anyone have objections to around 17-18? haha.

    Manifold stud replacement help

Yes I have brass nuts for them and they thread fine for the manifold side and course for the head side. I will throw the torque wrench on them tonight and see how close to 15 inch lb I am at. I matched these exactly to the old ones I pulled out.

    Manifold stud replacement help

The studs threading stops in the middle of the stud. I hope thats what your asking. I didnt screw them into the head far beyond the thread ending for fear that it wouldmess with the threads inside.
