Best Hammer/ Dolly Set advice from a Pro Panel Beater

Got the Martin 7-piece set pictured above delivered today from Summit Racing. They were the same price as everyone else, but I used a 10% off racers certificate, and I am tax exempt, so they ended up only costing me $209.00 You can instantly tell they are of a higher quality than the Chinese...

Best Hammer/ Dolly Set advice from a Pro Panel Beater

Looking for advice on a quality Hammer/ Dolly set from our pro panel beaters on the forum. Not looking for a low quality, Amazon, or Chinese made set. Looked at the Covel set, but figure I am paying at least $100 more for Ron's name on them. Thanks in advance for those that post a reply. Tom

    Engine Crane Boom Upgrade

Got less than 43 hr. service over the weekend from the powder coater. Dropped it off at 4pm Saturday and he called me at 10:30am this morning that it was ready. Boom is now installed and ready to use. I am going to cut a counterweight out of some 1.00" steel plate tomorrow. Already picked up a...

    Engine Crane Boom Upgrade

I got busy this afternoon and made a set of spacers out of Delrin, but didn't like the gap, so I made another set. Got that issue taken care of. Now just waiting on the powder coater to call me to come pick it up. Tom

    Engine Crane Boom Upgrade

After fighting with an engine crane boom that's been 7"-8" to short for years I decided to make a new one. My problem has been with the engine crane legs beveled outward and the engine stand I like to us also having the legs beveled outward it makes it impossible to get the chain hook centered...

Seeking advice on applying clear powder coat

You probably just need to use Cerakote MC-156 unless you want a really high build then use MC-160. A single application will probably be fine for your pens. Cerakote - HIGH GLOSS CERAMIC CLEAR Tom

What do you look for in a forklift?

I have an old dual wheel front pneumatic Hyster that I paid $1600 for 10 years ago. Like others have mentioned already, unless you plan to just use it inside on smooth concrete you want a pneumatic tires first and foremost. After that it depends on what height you want to achieve. Older single...

I would try using a couple lengths of pipe over the handles. You just need more mechanical leverage and it will come apart. Tom

bending 5/16 parts store steel line

I've bent 1/2" x .065" wall 4130 Chromemoly tubing with my Swagelok and it was all I could do by myself, so something in the .090" range in mild steel would be no problem. Anymore wall thickness you need a hydraulic bender. Tom

bending 5/16 parts store steel line

If you want to bend the sharpest, most kink free radius curves with any hand bender made buy yourself a Swagelok tubing bender. I have them in 1/8", 3/16", 1/4", 5/16", 3/8", and 1/2" Be aware they are expensive even used on eBay, but once you use one you'll be impressed with the results. Tom

    Best valve spring tester?

Brad Buxton makes really nice spring compressors. I actually knew him when he first started manufacturing them in Larry Cambron's garage in Owensboro, KY. I have an earlier version of this model, but this what you need for really high psi springs. Bench Valve Spring Tester - Buxton...

    Table Saw

My dad bought a new Craftsman 12" direct drive table saw in 1975. He's probably sawed 40 semi loads of wood on it in all the years that have passed. That saw is still in use almost daily and still has the original motor on it. So the best bang for the buck is finding an older Craftsman on...

Turn a small drill press into a Bore/ Hone. Bolt it to the top of your engine block & do your own machining .

I am having a party in a few weeks. You think I could get some of that stuff that's fueling all these WAY OUT THERE ideas? Precession boring is done with a single point boring bar 99% of the time. It take horsepower to turn even a single point bit. The only people using more than one cutter at...

Professional TIG Welder Question - 2% Thoriated (Red), Rare Earth (Purple), CryoT (Pink)

I am hoping I can get some answers from multiple professional TIG welders. However I fear that this thread could be like opening a can or worse, asking what cam should I use in my engine. I've used the 2% Thoriated (Red) for years, and yes I know of it's hazards. Several of my friends switched...

    anyone build cabins?

Love the idea, but the width concerns me. 12' is not enough room to have two exterior walls, bathroom, interior wall, room to walk around the bed, and finally the bed. By the time you add the walls all together and the bathroom width you're only left with a 6' wide bedroom. If you want to be...

Any Recommendations on a 1/2" Digital Torque Wrench?

While off topic I love my Mitutoyo digital vernier calipers of which I own 5 different sets for general work. They are far better than a set of Starrett digital vernier calipers nowadays. Engine stand rating

I bought a secondary engine stand at Harbor Freight because I was tired of building them.
