    440 intake reversed?

I am going to go over & take a look at the angle & actually see how bad my transgression was! It did not have a carb on it when it left my possession. RR

    440 intake reversed?

Way back I built an eng for a guy & later he took the car in to have a shop finish it for him & the shop told him that the intake was turned around reversed. Is this possible? thank you for your time. RR

    Distributor Vacuum Advance?

UTG swears by ported & 4secondsflat swears by manifold. someday when I have time I am going to try/tune both on a project & see what develops

    pushrod length/measuring question

watch the utube vid "pushrod geometry for engines" by Straub. its the one with the yellow rocker. they want at half cam lift you want the correct pushrod length to where the rocker is at a 90 deg right angle to the valve stem for the most area under the curve. & I think add/subtract for...

    Distributor Vacuum Advance?

I would check rotor phasing as vac adv is the only thing that changes it (centrifugal will not).

    400 into 65 valiant

streetmaster used to (may still have) custom motor mounts for this. I have a set for a future project. i understand that a B will fit with 68-70 HP ex manifolds. Trim the sloped firewall junction protrusion & wouldn't hurt to weld that now flat joint across for strength. also a good plan is to...

    advance

I would set the initial with the "vacuum gauge method" then shorten the slots to get 36 total (initial+slots) and the FBO $22 plate is by far the best bang for the buck way to change your mech adv amt, then toss the heavy spring with the elongated loop on one end & sub in a mr...

    s/6 to 440 ? engine mounts

I have a set of "streetmaster" BB to early A mtr mts. ain't used em yet (cant find a good roller that ain't gold plated). When I find my camera charger I will post a pic of em. they look real nice. not sure if they are still in business. I did see a pair of em on eBay (new) awhile back.

    HV oil pumpin a BB

I would suggest pulling the dist/intergear (first line up a tooth dead even with the magnet for easy reassembly) then replace the pump & just barely snug the bolts then install the intergear/dist then final tighten/torque the pump bolts for a dead on pump hex/intergear hex alignment. before...

    Starting to assemble the BB

I would set the initial at 18 (give or take slightly) for the breakin. The $25 FBO plate is the easiest/fastest way to set the slot amt for your total after breakin once you get the initial finalized & the best way is the vac gauge method after it is broken in. (have your dist man set it to 36...

    Big block swap?

Welcome aboard. As said the K will swap & the 71 uses biscuit mts as opposed to the spool type on the 73 K so each one would take a different aftermarket BB swap mtr mt setup. Center steering link (either 71 or 73 will work) tho they MAY each require a different idler/pitman arm(s)

    Timing mark

As said if there is a OE type pointer that will bolt to the dr side then that is perfect & find exact TDC on that side & make a white paint mark across the dampener just like the OE slit is on the other side & you're set. If you have a dialback that is all you need but I would suggest make...

    Over Heating

As said not enough air flow. I'd get the good MP clutch mechanical fan in there with the most blades with a schroud and the fan properly spaced into the schroud (~2/3 in iirc) OR if you do stay with electric be sure to get one that will whip up a tornado

    Oil Slinger.

As said if you have one and it fits with that timing set then yeah go ahead & toss er in there. Was a discussion on whether it was an "oil slinger" which is how it is referred to (maybe for good reason!) or if it is to help keep oil from going past the seal & seal quality is far better than it...

    Harmonic Damper

What Marco and Moper said. Another way to look at it: it is an externally balanced (OE) eng with the required (EB) pieces on it (dampener-front/TC-rear). You are changing the TC but not the way it is balanced so you just need to return the rear side back to the correct EB weight by subbing in...

    How to Install Camshaft Bearings

Harbor Freights' bushing driver set might have the right sizes. On the Lisle deal I did not think it'd be worth it for only several uses till my shop quoted me 60-100 (likely cuz of the offset tendency of the 440 bore alignment requiring extra work)!

AFB or AVS for 67 formula s??

yes 68 model year was the first year of the severe emission regs of that era and the first year of the AVS & the main reason it was developed. As far as those OE carbs go the (earlier) AFB was a far better performance carb than the AVS plus they (AVS's) are all emission calibrated lean possibly...

    Fenderwell header clearances.

if the car would still be driveable (ps would likely do OK) what about dialing in max neg caster to shift the ball joint vertical CL & therefore the tire(s) forward. I've seen the distance it will shift em & it is significant.

    440 timing

    (1) set the initial with the "vac gauge method" (& likely it will be ~15-18). (2) shorten the slots so you get 36 total (initial+slots) (3) mix & match springs so you are just under the pinging point at WOT up thru the gears on your hottest/driest (most likely to ping) day (4) plug in/adj the...

Why is it so hard to get good advice !!???

at .056" you have NO quench so if a thicker head gasket or a real thick custom one will lower the CR enough to get the DCR to an acceptable level then dont let the quench situation stop you since it's a non issue here. I been following your situation. Holler how it goes
