    kickdown issues

ok. so i haven't gotten to this correction, yet but, would this affect throttle sluggishness at all? As in, I stomp the accelerator and it bogs out. or is this purely a carb issue?

    kickdown issues

Here is an image of my throttle/kickdown linkage. The spring in front is a return spring. not sure if that is what you meant though cam64, do i need another spring somewhere?

    kickdown issues

Okay, so I switched out my old 1bbl carter and upgraded to a super six intake and clifford 3 into 1 headers. Along the conversion, I didn't have the actual kickdown linkage and the mechanic used a lokar cable. We also had to swap out the original gas pedal with a newer cable style. Anyway...

    slant is running hot

Yes. I've done it on more than one car. It may not be the best option but a circumvented heater core never caused my car to over heat, drove well over a year like that with no problems. Having a good heater core however does increase the water coolant loop though and should be replaced if...

Is it wise to keep the original motor??

Much like everyone else has said. GO GET IT! If for nothing else, it's still spare parts. Or a core to rebuild for future use.

just got me a '67 Barracuda

More than likely correct. My original cap and air cleaner can had the hose on it. Something to do with reclaiming exhaust fumes, early smogging in process. Mine were painted black, and the cap also has the word oil on it.

just got me a '67 Barracuda

The oil cap doesn't need the nipple it was an aftermarket buy and would allow you to use a more open air cleaner style like the one in this picture. It shouldn't have any negative affect as is though. My car was running similar to yours recently part of it was a cracked exhaust manifold the...

Looking for a Super 6 setup in CA

This is what I ended up doing, I found a super six setup complete on ebay (intake/exhaust manifold +2 carbs tons of other crap but no kickdown) for around 150$ +shipping. I don't know about you but that was cheaper than I found anywhere else, hell the exhaust manifold alone typically starts at...

I think I'm getting over my head so I'll slow down for now. Thank you Frank and everyone else for all their help. I know so little about the cam and whatnot ATM that I'm better holding off all the questions until I'm more serious about doing it. It runs good, it's not broken so I'm not going to...

The water hose test was a combination of fender drain and interior leak that was oh so fun  To address the issue of cam Identification I went and got the numbers off of the block. I believe it's the older engine style because it has only 3 freeze plugs, the numbers were: 12 28...

    Fanbelt problem

Well, I don't know the exact details or what's covered the post you found. But when I had mine changed I did it with a family friend whose a mechanic. He put a wood block on top of the floor jack disc and then positioned it on the block in front of the oil pan and lifted till clear. The thing to...

Thanks 72Demon, I was actually thinking about this a bit, but as I have bigger fish to fry atm I was going to hold out. But a bolt on upgrade is always a nice thing. The engine is a stock rebuild I bought a few years back which I think I mentioned earlier, I was looking through my manual and...

closest image I could find in my manual was this one, are you talking about a larger seal in this location for the cowl? Not what the manual has circled but the rectangular port partially in the lower part of the circle?

thanks for the help and suggestions so far guys. Frank, I ordered the schumaker pivot seals as they were indeed another casualty of time. and by cowl (fresh air) seals you mean these? as you can see by the surrounding rust there is probably an issue there. but from my understanding of these...

My wiring works, but I would like to rewire it, I have no idea how (having said that I'll check my manual) depending on days that you work on your car I might be interested in helping if you needed just to get a more hands on feel for a ground up rebuild, but it looks like your advancing through...

Thanks for the tip on the cowl and wiper seals Frank, I haven't checked those yet but think the wiper pivots are hardened and cracked, and I wouldn't be surprised with the cowl vents I've been blasted by misc. bramble chuff on the freeway a couple of times after a storage sit. Oldschoolcuda...

Sorry Frank, I thought I replied to you already but apparently I didn't . First off, you were absolutely correct it's a 904, and I do own the service manual, I've never thoroughly looked through it so was unaware how in depth it really is. I'm actually in the position where I can't allow...

Hello Aaron, I have classes on Fridays so I don't know if I could make it yet. As far as car help you could always part out your wagon for me :-D.
