    My 70 Duster build

i have scrapped the blow through carb idea and sticking with EFI. there have been several projects that put this on the back burner over the last few years. here are some recent updates. modified 1JZGTE intake plenum and 80mm throttle body.

The projects and chores never stop around here. Toom a long break from the car. Fugured its about time to make some progress. The latest is, I plan on going with a Mighty Demon blow through 4 barrel carburetor. no more fuel injection. to keep things simple and less expensive. I had to...

The trans cross member is done. the exhaust and everything clears perfectly. its kinda ugly but it should do its job. i don't have a shop, just a garage with minimal tools, no jigs or a Fab table.

@ 383Duster I do this as a challenge to my skills. plus i don't follow the herd either. i have 4 engine swaps going all in the past 4 years. My 610 was wanting turbo too. but i was thinking more like VW TDI. the $5000 price tag for the complete TDI swap wasn't too appealing. though, it would...

After thinking over a few things, i figured it would be best to sell my 74 Datsun 610 so that i can fund my Duster to running near condition. I just picked up a ton of parts from Aaron at Driftmotion. I really have to give this guy some props. he went way out of his way to help me. So far i got...

    My 70 Duster build

The Duster has been sitting collecting dust, but my reasons are the kids cars are a higher priority. i have 3 sons that are at or near the driving age and all have project cars that we are building. the duster is at a point that i need to sink a few more $'s in but i need to finish my 61 jeep VW...

the trans can either be a w58, good for < 275hp. the R154 trans should hold 500HP. both are 5speeds. the compatibility to a chevy nova, you will have to do your homework. there are two sump choices for the oil pan front and center sump.

    My 70 Duster build

well the 7MGTE is all assembled and in place. now it is time to coast for a while... i had to make room in the garage for my 79 Rabbit's 1.9 Diesel swap. this lame *** $4.00 a gallon has me pissed off. though it wont be so bad when my rabbit is sipping fuel at 50 MPG! 50mpg car for under $3000...

    My 70 Duster build

well so far the pay cut has really taken its toll here, though i am slowly continuing to see this project through. even if it now takes years, like i am anticipating.... i just got the pistons and bearings in. so now the rotating assembly is coming together.

    My 70 Duster build

well i hate to bring bad news there. this engine did dyno at 430hp to the tires in the last car it was in. not too bad for a 3.0 liter. it is most likely far superior to your engine H.P./C.I.... so what size engine are you playing with? :toothy10:

the bumper brackets are in the way for my scoop design. i had thought about the idea though it was not going to be easy so i opted for the less challenging way.

    My 70 Duster build

i will be doing the same thing to the other side too. i plan on splitting the intake piping and routing them to each scoop. it will be a challenge. i think i can pull it off and have it functional. figure start with 3" from the turbo and then split it off to two 2-1/4" or 2-1/2" intake pipes...

i haven't been doing too much lately. though here is what i have so far. i opened the wheel well for the oil cooler, made brackets and mounted the cooler. i have a shield built to protect the cooler from rocks and debris. will post pics when mounted. i think, i plan on making the scoops...

the radiator and intercooler are stacked. there is nothing in front of either one. the air dam will direct air flow from under the bumper for the intercooler. the radiator is fed through the Grill. i assure this project is thought out. my phone takes crappy pics.

    My 70 Duster build

well great news today! my son and i were in the garage BS'ing and decided to set the Head on to see if everything fit. the intake clears the master cylinder with plenty of room. i was worried it was going to hit.

i was glad to see what it looked like on the ground. i had to back off the torsion bars 10 turns each to lower it back to normal ride height. i actually scored this set of wheels, they are exactly like the Supratruck's wheels. i bought two sets of these when i found them. the Original front...

well after hours of looking at front air dams. i saw a AMC Javelin that had the exact style i wanted. i had to bring the scoops closer together 3 inches and set them back further. getting crafty with the hot glue gun and some painted cardboard. this is what i got so far... my closest "go to"...

Centerline Competition Series Stage II Wheels?

hey i have a set of centerlines on my duster, 16x9's rear and 16x7's front. the sevens were odd looking they seemed out of place. i had opted for 16x8's for the front. the low profile tire on a seven is just too small for the car. IMHO. good luck!!

    My 70 Duster build

yes a little mix of IMSA styling and W-30 olds influence. the scoops will be a necessity for bringing in the fresh air for the oil cooler and the intake. looks like i will have plenty of room for intercooler, the fans and radiator, more so that i originally thought.
