    Long Term Engine Storage

You can also spray some fogging oil into each cylinder. Sta-bil and AMSOIL are probably the most common mfgrs. That stuff is intended for these situations exactly. I'm in the same boat as you guys, my 340 is waiting on me to get my car done!

Outstanding. If I'm just deep into the 12's...I'll be a happy abody owner. :)

    edelbrock intake help

Holley 1850 on the 318 with lame chrome summit racing air cleaner. (Holley 4778C on the 340 but it's not in the car yet. I want to use my mopar performance air cleaner with it. )

    edelbrock intake help

I have a weiand stealth on my 318 in my 71 scamp (identical to a duster front end). It fits under the factory hood. I have a 340 with the eddy 7176 intake to put into my car, and I've compared the intakes are a match in height. Close enough anyway. I think you'll be fine but I'm not familiar...

My 340 completed and dyno test run!

I bet they are Lunati 72337-16. EDIT: I'm almost certain those have the be the lifters. They are the only street performance retrofit hydraulic roller lifters I can find that Lunati offers for SBM. Plus the price matches up pretty close to what I paid, and my builder gave me a fairly detailed...

My 340 completed and dyno test run!

It was a mix of parts I bought and gave to my builder and parts he bought direct. The lifters he bought and I don't have the p/n. From my understanding, these being retro fit no modification was required. I'll ask him when I pick up the motor. I do know he was going with comp cam lifters too...

Thank you! Not yet. I have the numbers of one pull but not a graph yet. Of course I could put one together since I have the figures.

Thanks to all those who gave advice and pointers on my engine build! After 3+ long years it's finally complete! And Video: https://youtu.be/VV4rKY79Oc8 Build details: '70 340 bored .040 over, 10.1:1 comp. Speed pro pistons L2316F cut for zero deck height Edelbrock rpm heads (closed...

Best fittting headers for 69 340 GTS ?

Ok so if TTI's or Doug's work great with 340 P/S a-body setups, what if you have Eddy RPM heads? I've heard due to the spark plug angle change, this might pose a problem? I've also got a lead on some lightly used Hedman tight tube headers for cheaper. I've read old posts where some liked...

Eddy RPM heads: Should I be concerned about this casting defect?

Yup. We're square there. Thanks. My first time with brand new heads so wasn't sure and wanted to make sure. Bad cast head is packed up and arrangements made for its return. I really wish I had nothing but good experiences to report about Edelbrock in this situation. What can I say? In the...

Eddy RPM heads: Should I be concerned about this casting defect?

So I have an update...and you guys will love this (and probably not be surprised one bit). First of all, I just noticed this today as it's really faint. There is an "OK" mark written on the defective head: Interesting. Secondly, I got my 2nd head today and looked it over real good...

Eddy RPM heads: Should I be concerned about this casting defect?

I should also mention that there was one bolt with washer in a baggie too. What's up with that? Second head apparently was delivered today, I'll keep you posted on how it turns out.

Edelbrock Heads Sound Like They're Terrible

Some of you have already seen my thread of my first experience with Eddy RPM heads: http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/showthread.php?t=272323 I bought bare castings because my engine builder and I agreed he would be putting some work into them, and we'd buy valvetrain parts that we knew...

Eddy RPM heads: Should I be concerned about this casting defect?

It's going back. Will deal with the seller, but I'm contacting Edelbrock too. To clarify, it is a low spot in the casting, so the machined surfaces of the stand couldn't be cleaned up there. Thanks for the replies everyone. Sometimes I feel like these situations happen to me more often...

Eddy RPM heads: Should I be concerned about this casting defect?

I'm waiting for the second head to arrive first so I can check it over too, before making any decisions. And yes, that area is hard to see exactly but it's pitted and porous there, not a clean machined surface.

Eddy RPM heads: Should I be concerned about this casting defect?

I finally pulled the trigger and got the heads I wanted. Upon opening in excitement, I noticed this: See where the rocker arm shaft mounts in the arched recess? That can't be good, can it? Am I being overly worried, or is this a return/exchange situation? Thanks!

    340 oiling system

I'm not looking to run 7000 RPMs, so from what I'm reading here so far I'll probably be ok to run stock stuff. Moper's advice looks to be good for extra protection, however my short block parts are already machined and parts (including bearings) purchased. They just need checked over and if...

    Stealth on a 340?

Ok thanks. Maybe I should clarify, I read they were smaller, more "closely matched" to 318 heads, rather than 340/360. But if the Stealth is designed more suited for a 340, then I stand corrected and feel it should do the job for my build.

    Stealth on a 340?

I have a Weiand Stealth intake now on my 318. Was planning to use it on my 400 HP street 340 build, with Eddy 60779 RPM heads. I know it's a good intake, but I'm concerned about the smaller 318 sized ports for the 340. Keep it or start hunting for an LD340? (Or something else?)

    340 oiling system

Oil pan, pump, windage tray, etc... What do you use, and recommend? I'm gathering parts to build a street 340, 400 HP goal, for my 71 Scamp. I already have a factory windage tray, and a new HV Melling pump. I've read some difference in opinion on using these. So I'm left wondering about...

    318 budget build help?

True that. Cheap + car hobby = Not cheap. IMO, you can't go wrong with an a-body 318 car for practical and reliable. Despite the line being 37+ years old, parts are still available and reasonable. Even more so if you get a 73-76 model year, which is probably your best bet for a tight budget.

Dumping the points ---> Your thoughts

I converted from points to MP electronic years ago, back when the entire kit was like $112. Was much easier to start, and have had little problems. Ballast resistor did crap out on me once, and I learned the hard way to always keep a spare in the glove box. This is just for a regular driver with...

    Aluminum Roller Rockers questions

I plan to go hydraulic, whether it's flat tappet or roller. I also PM'ed tubtar, since he's the one who originally posted the concern for high spring #'s. His response, with permission, for FABO reference: Originally Posted by tubtar "I think you are at the outer limits of their...

    Aluminum Roller Rockers questions

Kinda resurrecting this thread, but I started thinking about your comment here, as I was opening up the option of roller cam to my build. I've been hearing issues some have had with Dove rockers and high spring pressures, but for all I know that's for some very high lift cams in racing apps. I'm...

    Aluminum Roller Rockers questions

Just for fun, I contacted Dove and sent them the same rocker arm picture as here. They are definitely claiming that they made these rockers. Good to know! On top of that, I mentioned how close they are to me and they offered to give a tour of the plant if I'd like. Chalk another one up for Dove...

    Aluminum Roller Rockers questions

I'm thinking since I've got better rockers, best not to go cheap on stock shafts. I like that Hughes I can buy direct, Crane I have to go through a distributor like Summit or Jegs. I'm going to contact both just to see what they have to say, but Hughes already openly gives specs on their site...
