    Column help

There is a puller that screws into the three tapped holes and then pushes on the main shaft. Do a search. There are some pics of one a guy fabbed up on this site. Some people have got them apart by prying between the two column pieces, but that is a bad idea!

Torsion bars for better handling; your experience?

No expert here..... but wanted a corner carver with maybe a track day or autox event here and there. I went with a .998 (pretty sure it was, just under an inch anyhow) boxed in the lca's, factory sway bar, kyb shocks, etc. It is insane what that has done for the handling. I don't even have the...

Torsion bars - how to prep for paint

I'd have them media blasted. Although light sanding won't hurt. Go lengthwise down the bar with the sand paper so the micro scratches run long ways. Also, use something fine like a 220 grit or finer. I did mine and painted them too. Never again. When the engine comes out for this new motor...

New steering column conversion pieces. (auto to manual)

Received the replacement parts from Tony's today. They are very nice. I'll clean up some sharp edges, and they can go to the powder coater. I just got a defective set of castings the first time. And Tony said he'd never had a defective set after selling several hundred. But, all good now! C

New steering column conversion pieces. (auto to manual)

from my original post: The castings I got are awful. There is an overly big gap between the two pieces, The gap is not consistent at all, and the larger piece (rear) had a flat spot in the circumference. Some of the edges are really rough too. That part is fixable but I don't want to modify them...

    Power Steering Box question

Roy, would firm feel not take it back and fix it? Or didn't you pursue that? Honestly curious as I have heard good things about the boxes, customer service and I was planning on using one! thanks, CE

New steering column conversion pieces. (auto to manual)

Hey, I was wondering if anyone here has the new steering column conversion pieces that Classic Industries and Tony's Mopar parts sells. Specifically the 68-69 pieces to convert from auto to manual column. Yes, I know I can convert them myself, but decided to try buying them instead. The...

    Powder Coating Torsion Bars

After I harden the springs I use at work (gun springs) I temper them at 700* to get the spring rate I want. Different temps anneal to different levels. Useless tidbit :) Anyhow, the local powder coater does the springs for the monster truck The Black Stallion. 4' high springs, no adverse...

How long to rebuild front suspension?

It took me 2-3 weekends, but then i had more time in modding my k frame and lca's, etc. I was also very meticulous.

K frame, repair or scrap ?

    Steering Arm Boot?

Yes it will. The universal ones you get at the parts store don't lock on either.

Upper front shock bushing Question (68 Valiant)

The "shoulder" on the new bushings goes in the hole in the inner fender one from beneath and the other from the top. Both with one of the washers on the outside of the bushing. Like a sandwich where the inner fender is in the middle. Hope that makes sense.

Trying to choose new springs for '70 Dart

Was thinking about getting some of those hangers to drop mine a bit. When you use them do you have to elongate clearance hole in the body for the bolt head? Thanks, CE

    Different TRW Power Steering Pumps

Ha! Always assumed they were both federal. Learn something everyday! Sorry this doesn't get you any closer to an answer.

    Different TRW Power Steering Pumps

Is federal and trw the same thing? That looks like what i call a federal pump. There are two different federal pumps I know of. One is a .96 pump and i forget the other. I think I have one of each though. Ill see if I can tell a difference in the mounting points. Edit, Just looked in the fsm...

spring relo: offset vs. mini tub for handling?

Man that fills it up in there. Was looking at the cooper tires you suggested too. So you had to adjust the fenders?

spring relo: offset vs. mini tub for handling?

Yes it is an a body 8.75. right now it has Yukon axles with green bearings, but those will come out and some of dr, diff's axles will go back in with taper roller bearings. I may go to discs in the rear too. Currently 11X2.5 drums. This is why I'm really going to have to get a game plan and...

spring relo: offset vs. mini tub for handling?

Ah! Love it. That is genius. That makes my decision. Thank you 72blunblu. Since I JUSTgot this thing drivable for the first time since last October (and still have much to shake down) I'm going to take the two 225/60/15s I have on cop rims and see if they will work up front. If so I'll get two...

spring relo: offset vs. mini tub for handling?

Hrmm, so no rotating of wheels/tires. Oh well I'm confused about the 8-10mm spacer.where does that go and what is it for? Thanks in advance, this is really helping!

spring relo: offset vs. mini tub for handling?

So if I am reading this right, are you saying I could go 275 in all 4 corners, if i used 18 in rims (and 1/2 in offset of rear springs) If so I'd be inclined to go that route. It would be really nice to have all 4 wheels the same size ,etc.

spring relo: offset vs. mini tub for handling?

Do you happen to have a favorite brand, compound of rubber you use. I had been running the radial T/A's :) Lol.

spring relo: offset vs. mini tub for handling?

That is really helpful. I just figured if I had to move rear end perches for the offset............etc. But if the mini tub is about going straigtline racing that makes life a bit easier for me! Thanks,
