I am surprised nobody mentioned the casting numbers being 340-1, these blocks are suppose to have less core shift, the numbers go all the way up to 340-8 I believe. I would want to see the head off and the oil pan off. Just my opinion Webby.

No problem there the same, did you have it internally or externally balanced, not that it will make any difference with the block but you will have to use the correct balancer and flywheel or flex plate and converter. Webby.

You mentioned a cast crank, I thought all 273's had forged cranks. The ports are much bigger on the cast iron 34o intake than the 273 heads. Thanks Webby.

I just took a set of headers off of my 69 Valiant and it was a small block mini starter 904, my drivers side header had the center link thru the header, I removed the tie rods, I removed the center link from the idler arm and the steering box and the car was lifted on jack stands and I lifted...

The fuel pump mounts on the timing cover, So earlier timing covers would have the provisions for the pump, and you can still find new timing covers with the provisions for a mechanical pump, but then the cam will have to have the provisions for the mechanical fuel pump. Thanks Webby.

I believe that there are two different style 360 balancers, one has weight added, the other one is the one you have where the weight is casted out of the balancer. But it will not work on 273-318-340 engines it will only work on a 360 engine.

I'm sure Mike could put something else in your motor other than a roller cam.....And you would save some money.....But.....It won't make the Horsepower and torque that the roller will.....Mike puts a lot of impressive motors together and he talks to his customers and he answers e-mail questions...
