    360 plus 30 with 4 inch crank 6 pack headers 2.5 exhaust street car street gears just a driver What would be a good street plug way back when I use ro use N9Y champs Thanks Webby

    it depends on the engine anywhere between a n9 to a n12 on my engine I started with a rc12yc but were to hot I finally settled on rc9yc champion .

    I would run 11's and read them after a while. 9's are pretty cold and you may not be able to get it to idle clean. I had that issue.

    I wouldn't put Champion plugs in a lawn mower. I have used nothing but NGK, best plug on the market hands down !

      So it's the plugs fault you can't tune? It's a spark plug. It has design characteristics that are manufacturered into it. If you understand those, you can tune from the plug. Champion doesn't design a plug like Autolite, or NGK or anyone else. If you want a plug to go 50k look at the Autolite. The Champion plug is good for 5k on a piss poor weak suck ignition. 10k on the best ignition you can buy. On a stock engine. Add power and plug life goes down. There is a reason why it works that way.

      Don't blame the plug. It's like a mechanic who blames his tools for crap work.

      Ah... seems things must have gotten boring around here...someone asking the old "what spark plugs to use?"...lol...flame time... get a firehose, quick!


      Next week it'll be .."what brand and weight oil should i use".... god help us!! Lmao

      Use a stock replacement spark plug. You're not doing anything beyond a stock heat range plugs ability. Pick one thats easy to read...and that the insulator doesn't come lose and get caught in a valve and smashed by the piston.

        I agree. An old Mopar engine builder told me to throw my Champion plus away 45 years ago, and I did. Autolites only for my Son and I but I did buy some NGK's for the nitrous build I am putting together.

          I agree. NGK is the only plug I used in my 2 and 4 cycle dirt bikes over the past 45 years. I just recently switched from Autolite to NGK in the Mopars.

            I'm running a PerTronix Igniter 3 distributor ignition system in my 340 with NGK-R GR4 plugs gapped at .045 and never had a issue with these plugs.

            That's just hogwash. There are only three or four factories in the WORLD that make plugs. From there, they are rebranded and sent to vendors world wide. That means there's a GOOD possibility that whoever makes the NGK plugs you like, also make the Champions you don't. A plug is a plug is a plug. Brand has ZERO to do with it as long as you get the correct fit and heat range for your application. You've learned it WRONG from somebody that learned it WRONG and then taught you WRONG and now you're on here tellin other people WRONG. You're WRONG.

                  All I'll say is this and leave it be. The list for how many records have been broken with Mopar......and every other make and Champion plugs is a very long one. I don't say this out of "belief" I say it out of experience. I have used pretty much every make plug at one time or another. None ran any better or worse.

                    YR trashed the Champion plug and I don’t know why. I run mine 30k no issues. I have had no luck with Autolites my self.

                    Each brand will spec everything about the plug. So IMO, there all different to a degree.

                      Sorry Rusty, Champion plugs Never ran good in my vehicles. I didn't learn it WRONG from anybody I have learned from experience with my vehicles, I have had a Mopar for over 50 years starting with a 69 340 Dart and to this day will not run Champion plugs never had good luck with them. The OP was asking what's a good street plug, all I stated was what I didn't have good luck with and what runs really good in my application. Yes there are probably only 4 factories that make plugs but each plug is made specifically for that brands specifications as the NGK plug is not the same as a Champion just look at the electrode or look at a E3 plug so all plugs are really not the same. I'm not on here tellin other people WRONG just stating what works for me and what doesn't.
