    Paint job help

Do NOT even think about it! It WILL look worse, I promise. The TCP global choice sounds good. I've also worked with stuff from here. With rolling Rustoleum, there will be a bunch of sanding involved to get it smooth (or so I hear). You can SPRAY rustoleum oil base, though. I did the wheels on...

    Lets see those 73-76 Dusters

Oh, and a few wayback pics of Krusty back in LA. I'll take all of my photos, and put them on my Photobucket account, and make it available soon. Maybe this weekend.

    Lets see those 73-76 Dusters

Adam, if you ever get the notion to do a painted grill, hold off on that one. I have the original from the car hanging in my mom's garage. I'm going there on Friday, I'll try to remember to grab it.

    What engine for my dart?

Given all your criteria, I'd start with a small block. In this day and age, a 360 (probably magnum) makes the most sense. I'll let others lay out what you need to do to get into the 12s.

MOPAR's new trucks?, I HOPE SO!!!

I figured it was the '97 you referred to. Very nice. I have a 2001 2500 gasser, myself. I'd love to make it look like yours, but would rather put the money into my Duster.

Ever wanted a 1968 or 1969 Dart Station wagon?

If you get that, I'm definitely coming over to have a look. I need some parts for the Duster anyway. Good luck!

Good to hear it's likely not headed for bastardazation. Get him on FABO, I want to see this car!

    paint color?

Silver. B5 would be alright, but I prefer it on earlier cars. I think the silver would be really sharp.

    Duster Title

Actually, if you haven't already seen it, you will enjoy reading a brief history of the development of the Duster on Allpar: http://www.allpar.com/cars/plymouth/duster.html Lots of interesting tidbits in that read.

    Duster Title

Honestly, I didn't really answer the question. Yes, the car was derived from the Valiant, technically a sub-model. Noone really refers to them that way, though. I know that when I go to Napa for a part, I have to tell them Valiant, not Duster. They simply don't have a listing for it. I'm...

    Duster Title

Because a french nazi wrote it up. Now if it said Valiant (without the "e"), then it's because you have a Valiant Duster, just like I do. What year is your car? 1970 actually had Valiant badges on the fenders.

    Info on 73 Duster

Large Bolt Pattern (5 on 4 1/2). It's easier to find wheels for, but as I already stated, I like the steelies. You can find wider ones for the rear to take up that gap the Dusters have, and have the rims painted body color when you repair the quarters. Any disk brake car from '73 on is LBP, so...

    Info on 73 Duster

Along these lines, is it a disk brake, LBP car? That's a major plus fairly common in the later year models.

    Info on 73 Duster

Nice looking car, and I like the color and dog dish caps. I couldn't make out the rust in the photos, but it looks like you could definitely cruise it around like that for a while, and a good painter might be able to blend in the repairs without the cost of repainting the entire car. The price...

    Info on 73 Duster

If it looks good, you can live with the light rust, and intend to use it as a driver, than maybe it's not a bad deal - especially for a northeast car. But if you intend to redo the car anytime soon, something like this will cost you less (unless you are a bodyman)...

    what would it really take?

I wouldn't do it, either. While that my be a good deal for a racer (I wouldn't know), It's basically a shell for your purposes, and you'd need another complete parts car to make it right. And no, not all of your '74 interior parts will work, unless you wanted a bastardazation. It sounds like...

    V10 engines

I guess it depends on how much one uses the truck. Gasoline powered 2nd Gen Rams sell very cheap where I live. I got a fairly (doors starting to go) nice 2001 SLT 5.9 Magnum 2500 4wd quad cab for under $2k. For the amount of use the truck gets, it would be quite a long time before I would break...

    V10 engines

I've only ever heard one guy speak ill of the v10, and it was a generic comment, "they're no good" or something like that. He drove an F350. I later realized he must have been confused with the Triton V10.

Car sale: The one who 1st called, or the 1st who gave the deposit?

I missed the part about the word on the phone. Always stay true to your word, even if you are the only one who does. I'll only promise to hold something from the time the buyer departs his / her location until he/she reaches mine.

Car sale: The one who 1st called, or the 1st who gave the deposit?

That sounds more than fair to me. Almost all the times I tried to bend over backwards to schedule showings in the order of contact, I've gotten the shaft. But I've also been blown off buy guys who tried to muscle in. So first one at your doorstep gets it, in my opinion.

I need your help on helping me price my Dart !

Problem with the OP's car is that it was his sole means of transportation (from what I recall in prior thread). I don't know of any agreed value or collector type policies that will insure you that way without owning a second car for daily use. It's easy to say he had it "underinsured." But...

I need your help on helping me price my Dart !

About a year and a half ago, I bought my running, driving '73 Duster 318 for $2500. While it was a running driving car, everything that the sun ever shined on needs refurbishing. Paint and interior fried. Most weatherstripping could use replacement. Tires hard as a rock (although tread nice)...
