Aussie Hemi Six Charger Runs 9s

Yep, Graeme Cowin used to drive Top Fuel funny cars and dragsters back in the day. He owns Rocket Industries here in Australia and is a major supplier for performance parts down under

Aussie Hemi Six Charger Runs 9s

The Aussie A-body Charger is probably known to most of you by now. Not my car but I filmed and edited the videos. This is Brad Keem's turbocharged Hemi six Charger. It runs a GT47 turbo, EFI and E85 fuel. Power is estimated at around 750hp. The first video is from a year ago when Brad first...

Darts first time to the track!!

Dropping a little is okay, you don't want 35psi in them, 18-20psi is fine but below 15psi the contact patch gets pretty bad and you're worse off again.

Darts first time to the track!!

I'm pretty confident that slicks and 3.55 gears will get you into the 13s

Darts first time to the track!!

Slicks will make a fair difference. You're probably into 14.4 or lower with Slicks but i'd start shopping for an 8 3/4 with better gears.

Darts first time to the track!!

Drop some 3.5s into it and it'll be low 14's at least, but you might need some sticky rubber too. Better rubber will help to get it into the 13s with more suitable gears. I had no doubt you'd run 14s with your combo, nice work. What MPH?

Darts first time to the track!!

the gears will hurt but still should crack the 14sec zone

Put the Duster on the DYNO.

Ah, okay. I thought it might have been the green one in the avatar. With that much weight cut out it will be pretty light. Does your track have scales?

Put the Duster on the DYNO.

Yep, I think you would have to gut more than the interior to get it down to 2450lbs

High 7's in the 1/8..how much weight and power??

The figures are crank horsepower, but real HP numbers, not "my buddy says he had 300hp and my car is faster so I must have 400hp" numbers. People tend to throw horsepower numbers around like candy these days. So to put it in perspective I'll use one of my old rides as an example. It was an...

Put the Duster on the DYNO.

Nice numbers, what's the rest of the combo?

High 7's in the 1/8..how much weight and power??

That's pretty light and it'll leap out of the hole with those gears, but you'll need all three gears for the 1/8th mile. If you ever run the quarter it'll probably run out of revs. Is this a real car or just in planning stages at the moment? The reason I ask is there's no real reason to strip...

High 7's in the 1/8..how much weight and power??

Yep, I done it with one of my own cars in the past (non-mopar combo but equivalent in weight and power), but right now a friend's street '69 Cuda does pretty much that with a 408 running W2 econo heads with around 450 horse. Runs 11.9 at 115mph with 3.45 gears.

High 7's in the 1/8..how much weight and power??

what i've posted above is for a normal full weight street combo with 3.5 gears. Less weight and more gears will make it quicker, especially over the eighth

High 7's in the 1/8..how much weight and power??

well 7.70 on the 1/8th equals 11.99 on the quarter so you're probably looking at around 450hp in your average A-body

    Tuff 8sec Aussie A-body

After looking through one of the build thread today where someone was fitting a four-link rear, I thought I should probably point out that this is still a leaf spring car as well.

    215 drag radial traction

To be honest 12.9 at 104mph is pretty much right on the money. You might get a 12.8 or even a 12.7 messing around with gears and tyres but to beat a 12.5 you're gonna need more horsepower.

    Tuff 8sec Aussie A-body

Yeah, he had a lifter failure. No unheard of in these cars. He's got it for sale (there's no real urgency) but that didn't stop him from doing the burnout shown above. :)

    Tuff 8sec Aussie A-body

Considering it's a small tyre car as well, it gets off the line pretty decently.

    Tuff 8sec Aussie A-body

Some of you have probably seen some pics of this before. It was supposed to go to the US for Drag Week but didn't get any track time before it was supposed to go. Arby, the owner, ended up going over and buying a low-blown C10 pick-up and doing Drag Week that way. Unfortunately it doesn't...

Post your 13 second small block combos

My old Aussie Charger in the late 90s was a high 13sec car. It was a basic combo. It had a 360 with 8.5:1 TRW forged pistons, ported 2.02 cast iron J heads, a small 218@50 .458lift cam, 780 vac sec carb, Torker intake, 3000rpm converter, 3.5gears. It ran 13.9 @ 99mph. It was a very basic combo...

anyone wanna guess what my 1/8 mile will be

Amen to that, but the 3.91s will give it some spice off the line. My guess is 8.55 with the slicks and 3.91s

what DOT drag radial to use

a friend just ran 7.82 @182mph on M/T 275s. It's hard to argue with those numbers.
