yes you can... 64 was the first v8....you will need to find a v8.. center link..for steering to clear oil pan...you need motor mounts...for 273...they fit into x frame where 6cly mounts go...need 273 exhaust manifolds...my 64 has 318 mag efi...od trans.. ford 8.8 posi..out of an explorer...disc...

a ford 8.8 out of a explorer will work has the right of set... and disc brakes... and large bolt pattern...buy a disc brake kit for the front...one with new upper control arms...spindles...rotors ..exc... you will save money...call me at 479 216 2583 my be i can help with info

64 rearend is offset to pass side im putting a ford explorer 8.8 in my 64 valiant 318 mag 518 od trans ...factorer efi ...the ford rear end 59.5 hub to hub with rh 28 in ,lh31.5 center to hub ....spring perches at 40 in . move perches out 11/2 in.each side . cut ford perches off and reuse...

i am installing a318 mag with 518 trans into 1964 valiant motor mounts 273 tunnel had to come out all the way , rear cross menber cut out to bolts, lower half cut down two 1inch used 6cly slant motor mount weld flat plate to lower half on botton side dill 1/2in hole in stall mount sideways...
