    Help Identifying

My /6 AC dart came with a factory 22in radiator. I’m still using it with my 340. Just had to get radiator hoses that worked.

LD4B how good and how rare what are they worth?

As title says. I’m curious how they compare to the new Eddy RPM and Airgap. What are they worth these days?

Yes. Manual says brass. I have brass and steel. It’s gapped correctly. Missed a 0

    340 camshaft break-in. Well.....almost

New pump installed. Fuel line to pump primed with a little air pressure in tank. Can hear and feel pressure coming out of this pump. We’ll see. Reset initial timing (appears to be 15-16* at the moment) cap and rotor checked and oriented to #1. Reluctor pick up gapped to .008” Will try to check...

    340 camshaft break-in. Well.....almost

Nope zip zero zilch. That's the problem I think. No vacuum created to pull fuel from the tank. The diaphragm or check valves in the pump are f'd. I haven't tried connecting a fuel hose to a Jerry can yet to the fuel pump. This would rule out the fuel line to the gas tank and the new sending...

    340 camshaft break-in. Well.....almost

Never know but I have a camera scope and I’m going to take a look when I get home. You can feel it hitting what feels like the eccentric when installing the pump.

    340 camshaft break-in. Well.....almost

Would be nice if I had an electric setup just for break-ins but it’s seldom I break in a cam. This is my 3rd one over the years. Would one of those inline universal pumps work?

    340 camshaft break-in. Well.....almost

We took gas cap off just in case. Brand new everything. New gas tank, sender, new stainless fuel lines etc Running hose to gas can was my next option but we called it quits for that day after a number of attempts. If new fuel pump doesn’t solve the problem I’ll try the can. Plus I may see if I...

    340 camshaft break-in. Well.....almost

Tried to get the 340 engine camshaft broken in yesterday but no dice. As you see in the video, our final conclusion was a bad fuel pump. Won’t have a new one until tomorrow. Thing that sucks is this was a brand new stock Carter fuel pump. Sucker was bone dry when I pulled it out. I believe the...

340 in a 1966 valiant, remote oil filter woes

I have a 66 with a 340 and tti’s. Did the install 8 years ago. I used the stock 90 deg oil filter. Caveat. You need to grind the bolt head down to about a 1/4 in thick. There’s plenty of meat to get it snug. Never want to over tighten this bolt anyways. Zero oil drips and fits.

273 Rocker Arm modification jig for locking adjusters

Lathe would be nice to have. I’m running out of space already in my garage. Wifey has to have room for her car. Otherwise, I’d have more tools :))) I’m happy with how everything squared up. Simple jig for anyone who has a disc sander of any size. Mine happens to be a 12”. I’m sure it would...

273 Rocker Arm modification jig for locking adjusters

I made a quick jig today to flatten the casting surface on these 273 rockers for locking adjuster nuts. As you can see the original castings are way off Measured the rocker shaft and it was .87”. It just so happens a craftsman 5/8” deep socket is also .87”. Well I drilled a 7/8 in hole in...

    Come on Crane Cams !!!!!!

Got my Smith Brother adjusters. Legit!!! 3/16 hex head instead of piss poor 1/8 head. The neck on these are more like the originals as well. Thanks for the headache medicine SBros. Now I can setup my motor.

    Come on Crane Cams !!!!!!

What’s a kit from him cost? Or a complete rocker arms, shaft etc cost?

    Come on Crane Cams !!!!!!

Not interested in buying new rockers etc. This is a fairly mild engine without huge spring pressures and lift. A basic purple shaft type 268 grind. I’ve not gotten far enough to check valve stem pattern yet. Will get to that before final assessment of pushrod length. My other 340 has a really...

    Come on Crane Cams !!!!!!

Ordered a set from Smith Brothers just now. $91. Will call them back with my pushrod measurements when I get the adjusters from them. Glad it’s only the valve covers I have to remove each time :) Called Mancini. They said to send them back for warranty inspection.

    Come on Crane Cams !!!!!!

    Are the Harland’s 3/8-24 with 5/16 ball Aren’t they 7/16-20? For a 3/8 pushrod?
  20. daves66valiant

    Come on Crane Cams !!!!!!

Correct. I had to wait for the adjusters and the adjustable pushrod tool. Was stoked to make headway with the valve-train but **** happens. Motor came with longer pushrods off the shelf but weren’t correct with factory adjusters. I’ve got quite a bit of time to get geometry sorted out.

    Come on Crane Cams !!!!!!

I’m putting a call into Smith brothers here shortly. Their adjusters are $113 to my door. More than double the price but in this instance you get what you pay for. Thought Crane was reputable......uh.....not. May as well have them make my pushrods too.

    Come on Crane Cams !!!!!!

Vise-grips were to back fuckers out after they broke The Allen key hole was stress cracked. No way to back them out with an Allen wrench when it spins. Those nice vise-grip could have stayed in the toolbox if the product wasn’t flawed.

    Come on Crane Cams !!!!!!

The date of production on the box was 2016. Will be returning them when I can get time.

    Come on Crane Cams !!!!!!

Yes Mancini sells Crane’s junk. Hoping they will refund my $$$ I will check out Smith Brothers’ adjusters. I’ve ordered pushrods from them before.
  25. daves66valiant

    Come on Crane Cams !!!!!!

Yes I tapped them without issue. I didn’t lock any of them down tight. I mainly just wanted check my pushrod length and make sure they all threaded in easily. Well. That didn’t go so well. I didn’t get far enough to see where to machine/flatten the rockers as seen in other posts.
  26. daves66valiant

    Come on Crane Cams !!!!!!

My thought was tempering as well. They broke so quickly. Very brittle. Would hate for one to snap off under a load. The other 13 nuts went in without issues. Never had an issue before using the same style on my other 340 in my valiant.
  27. daves66valiant

    Come on Crane Cams !!!!!!

Yes they are the 12 point locking nuts. I did post that the rocker threads were chased and cleaned up before hand. Plus I oiled them as well.

    Come on Crane Cams !!!!!!

I was working on the 340 yesterday measuring for pushrods with new locking adjusting nuts from Crane Cams. Well two of the mother#%>?>>>!ers broke at the Allen head. See the little cracks. WTF!!! Really bad. Very little pressure while tightening into my 273 rockers. The rockers already had...
