1970 v 2013: How the Darts Stack up

I agree, I got my drivers license in 1970. Darts, Dusters, Novas, Mavericks, Falcons were the cars you bought because you couldn't afford the car you wanted. That went for the performance versions too. The difference in the formula for the new Dart and the other C segment cars is now they...

1970 v 2013: How the Darts Stack up

Tail lamps??? The only Charger that had a tail lamp that extended across the back of the car was the 66 and 67. It was a large rectangular lens with chrome bars spaced every inch or so nothing like the tail light treatment on the current Charger and Dart. The 68 Charger had two round lenses o...

    Mustang boss 302 vs mopar!

Fords aero cars were limited too. The reason was they were just running all together to fast. If they hadn't been limited Ford had a winged car ready to go too, as well as, a 427 OHC v8. They may or may not have continued to be dominant. I am a car guy I like Mopar and GM and Ford. I was a...

    Mustang boss 302 vs mopar!

Better check your facts; Ford won the NASCAR manufactures title from 1963-1969. Dodge/Plymouth won 70-71, 75. Chevy won 72-74. After 75 GM or Ford has won since. Petty even switched to Ford in 69 because Plymouth wasn't competitive. From the beginning of Pro Stock drag racing through the...

    Mustang boss 302 vs mopar!

The offset push rods were there to allow the engine builders to port the snot out of them. Without being able to get rid of the pinch in the intake ports needed with push rods in the stock location the engine didn't have a chance of making enough power to be competitive. The AAR and TA heads...

8 1/4 rear end pros and cons

The 8.25 has been in production longer than any other Chrysler rear end. It has been used in Jeeps almost since Chrysler acquired Jeep and there is extensive after market support. I rebuilt mine with all new bearings, ring and pinion for less than $250. even upgrading with stronger parts is less...

What about this new Ethanol E-15?

Well both my chain saws are over 15 years old and the leaf blower & weed whacker are close to 10 years old. Plus my brother in-law has a landscaping business and his equipment is used day in and day out on E10. I have also put 70k miles on my 68 Barracuda since restoring it and E10 hasn't...

What about this new Ethanol E-15?

Yes, I have two chain saws, a leaf blower, and a weed whacker not to mention the two stroke dirt bikes I used to race. Never a problem with E10.

What about this new Ethanol E-15?

Where I live there has been nothing but E10 since the early 90's. It has not had any detrimental effects on any gasoline burning engine I have owned. I am quite sure that I don't get the mileage with it or make as much power but it certainly does not eat fuel lines or cause other issues...

    Daily Driver A body Questions?

I have a 68 Barracuda that i daily drive between april and the end of Nov. It has a 360 with approx. 370 HP, a A833OD 4spd and 3.55 gears. The car has run a very traction limited (2.2 sec 60') 13.7 @ 102. This combo is netting me 16.5 to 18 mpg around town and 21-22 mog on the hiway, that is...

Yeah, well, Avenger begins with an "A"....

Bought a new 97 Avenger with the 2.5 v6. We put 130,000 trouble free miles on it. The only reason we got rid of it I just had too many vehicles (5 registered, 2 drivers). With gas prices the way they are I wish I had it back, it got 25/26 mpg around town and 30/31 on the hiway. It was a smooth...

    v8 center link

From 67 up there is only one center link used on both \6 and V8 cars. BUT, there is a difference in the 67-72 and the 73-76 center links. Either one can be used but the same year range pitman and idler arm as the center link need to be used as a set. The difference is how the post on the pitam...

P8 code on a PT Cruiser radio??

Check the 03 PT FSM I have and there was no mention of codes for the radio but it did mention that audio malfunctions could be diagnosed with the DRB tool so it sounds like the radio ties into the computer system. Power train diagnostic codes for the PT are displayed in the dash after three key...

    Bellhousing Compatability

I was not aware that any small block cars came with 11" clutches. I would venture it is the same set up as the 9.5" and 10" clutches used in slant 6's, the 10" was a heavy duty fleet application. Both sizes bolted to the same flywheel and were used with the same bell housing. I think you are...

    Welding helmet recommendation

I would stay away from the Harbor Frieght brand ones (for that matter stay away from any thing electrical with the Harbor Frieght brand). My wife gave me one and it quite working in about 6 months and you can't get parts to fix it.

    What to do...

I have the same A833OD behind the 360 as I had behind the \6. The car orignally had a 7.25 rear end with 3.23 gears. I swapped an 8.25 with 3.55 gears in while the \6 was still in the car and the 360 has the same 3.55 gears.

    Question for our Russian members

Back when I worked for Motorola I did international product approvals and Russia was a primary market. I don't recal ever seeing anything other than the Shuko style plug. The may use something like our NEMA twist lock plugs but it not standardized. I would contact the person you are sending the...

Raising the rear of your car,

Air shocks and longer shackles can mess up the handling and are not the best way to raise the rear end, the best way is with springs. Below is a picture of my 68 Barracuda with the Mancini XHD springs.

    Question for our Russian members

Russia uses the Schuko style plug that is rated for 16 Amps. I believe once you go above that it has to be permently connected.

    What to do...

No you won't; I ran this set up for 28K miles from 00 to 05. I then swapped in a 360 in 05. I have 38K on the 360 now and my only regret is I didn't do it sooner. I gave up about 1.5 mpg; 19ish around town with the \6 to 17.5 with the 360 and one mpg on the hiway 21-22 with...

    The year before Nascar died

There probally wouldn't be any NASCAR! Just a couple of incidences with those cars loosing control and turning into flying objects going into the stands and NASCAR racing at that level would have been legislated out of existance. Even today with all the aero dynamic and stability improvements...
