    Is this a 489?

Looks like you may have solved this one Dana67Dart.

    Is this a 489?

I think that is a pre '64 case. Pre 741. I had an earlier case, guessing late 50's early 60's, and the bolt pattern was smaller than the 741,742, 489 cases and would not fit the later 8 3/4 housing.

First Drive after building, Major shake

One more thought. Since it only seems to happen at the higher speed, could it possibly be what is called, death wobble. This is what happens when upper and lower ball joints are worn out. Had it happen on my 98 ram truck. At lower speeds under 50 or so it would be ok, above that it would about...

First Drive after building, Major shake

Just throwing this out there. Whatever is causing this, only does it after it gets hot. So it has to be in my opinion, tires, wheel bearings or brakes.

Why are there different 727 and A833 slip yoke lengths???????

I have been looking for a 29 spline 7260 yoke. I have noticed there are different length factory slip yokes. I have noticed that some of the length difference is where the splines start inside the yoke. Some splines start a little deeper than others or their is just extra material before the...

What Stall do I need ?

Power band is from 900-5200. For me, if I wanted to buy an off the shelf converter, I would get a stall some where around a 2200-2500.

What Stall do I need ?

Just by some of the specs I have seen on similar cams. I am going to take a guess here, but that cam probably starts pulling as low as 1000 rpm and ends somewhere between 5000-5500 rpm. Plus the fact that it is a light car and has 3.23 gears. I would go with a 2500 stall.

What Stall do I need ?

I don't see that cam on their website or anywhere else.

That's what I'm talkin about. That sounds real good to me.

Should I get a Car or Truck Dana 60 ??????

Ends can be bought lots of places. Summit racing and jegs have them. You have to make sure of the spline count on the truck dana. It may have the 35 spline carrier. 8 3/4 are only 30 spline.

Should I get a Car or Truck Dana 60 ??????

Yes, cut the ends off, remove the axles, install 8 3/4 ends and new axles with the correct bolt pattern.

Should I get a Car or Truck Dana 60 ??????

Thinking about getting a Dana 60 at some point. Should I get the one from Moser that has the mounting points for the pinion snubber or just get the truck Dana 60 and don't worry about the snubber and save some money? This is a street car only. Are pinion snubbers over rated? At some point I may...

Any difference between say a '75 Dana 60 vs a 90's model rear axle

Looking for a Dana 60 truck housing to build for my Dart. I know the later models such as in the 90's have the speed sensor in the housing. Are the early and later gears the same, anything to watch for? Reason I ask is I have found a '98 model Dana 60. The earlier ones are harder to find around...

At what point to go Dana 60 ??????

It’s not an original A body rear. It started life as a C body rear that I turned into an A body rear. I did this 5 or 6 years ago. With the 2 1/2” breaks I had to roll the fender lips just to keep the 245 60 tires from rubbing. Now I am getting ready for a redo and trying to figure out which...

At what point to go Dana 60 ??????

I have a 67 Dart. I need to narrow my stock A body width 8 3/4 a little. I am trying to decide if I should just go ahead and get a Dana 60 and do the work to it instead. At my current power level I am fine, 411hp-410tq, but I am thinking into the future, cause I am sure it will get a little...

    340 J converter

I ran this converter for a few years back in the early 90's and my dad used it through the 70's. Worked great. Picture makes the snout look bad, but it really isn't.

    340 J converter

    340 J converter

How can I tell if the torque converter I have is a factory J converter that was used behind the 340? Are there any distinctive markings? I am fairly certain what I have is a J converter since I have had the engine and transmission since the mid '70's.
