The Plymouth Weslake DOHC Motor from the 60's

Ive only seen three sets of Westlake heads, if you want to count the set on John Buttera’s 32 coupe that he built in the late 70’s. He had to fabricate a water pump for the street, but it worked. He drove it from California to the Street Rod Nationals, I believe it was the last one in Memphis...

Work has FINALLY started back up again. The guy, Bob, who has done most all the work on this car, well in the past 7 years, his wife had breast cancer, she also had to have her one knee replaced, Bob had open heart surgery, then major kidney problems, then he had/has depression, lost alot of...

    408 Scat Stroker Kits

Just curious, as my 360 is already .060 over. But, I agree with you on .040 being the most sensible.

I don't know how those last three photo's got in there, but you do have the little baby hemi there. Yes, I overspent my budget on it. Especially with the EFI. But, Fran does very nice work.

I caught Nicks Garage the other night, when sleep was avoiding me. I watched a 408 dyno, but the killer for me was the 241 dyno test. If you remember, probably not, I have a second car. A 1938 Ford Standard Tudor Sedan, with a 325+ 57 Dodge engine, muchly modified. Schneider cam, bored. .040...

    408 Scat Stroker Kits

Just curious, how far can a 360 block be bored before it is too far. Yes, I know sonic testing would tell me that, but for a street driven 360+?

    408 Scat Stroker Kits

That's because they are referring to it being a 408. a .040 over would be a 410, which doesn't sound the same. If I do this, with a .060 over, well what is that? 414? who knows.

I haven't seen/talked with Jim for over 20 years and at that time they were closing the shop that he was in. Anyone know what happened to Jim? Hopes it's not what I'm thinking.

    340 Oil filter adapter

Just a thought, if the Six 51335 just barely clears the manifold, what happens when you want, or need to change oil, not even getting into the heat from the manifold on the filter? Maybe wrap it, but I'm not a fan of that, either. Just curious.

    340 Oil filter adapter

I'm wondering this same thing, as I will be using the 340 hi-po manifolds too. I never realized that the 90 degree filter adaptor came from the factory on these 340 motors. But, looking at these pictures, I can't see how you'd change oil without the adaptor.

    318 Starting Problems, Help

I"ve got a similar problem with my 360 in my Valiant. It has an Edelbrock 650, MSD ignition, no ballast resistor. One thing though, when I go to start it, the ignition switch has to pushed up as I twist the key. I don't know if this could be the problem, but it's the first time that I've ever...

    340+ for the STREET

I've driven both, front wheel drive I hate. Why you ask? In downhill slipping and sliding what do you do? In rear wheel drive it isn't fun either, but you can steer onto the slide. With front wheel drive I use to say, let go of the wheel and let it stop, then drive off. In other words, I don't...

    340+ for the STREET

My oldest daughter lives in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area and when they get snow or ice storms, she stays in. Crazy and some of the worst are transplants from the Snow Belt who have relocated to that area. They instantly forget how to drive in slippery stuff. The worst car for winter driving that...

    340+ for the STREET

He meant STICK SHIFT cars, not slicks. Slicks would be ridiculous. I prefer manual transmissions, but my wife can't drive one, so I'll probably do a torque flight, maybe with a Gear Venders thrown in. Not sure there. In the past, here in Iowa winters in the past 12 years or so, I've driven...

    340+ for the STREET

Simple: Just like I've done for the past several years with a BMW, put on Blizzaks, make sure the anti-freeze is up to snuff, and drive it. And keep it clean of slush and road salt once a week, just like I use to do when these cars were new. Although back then we got lots more snow than we do...

    340+ for the STREET

Reason that I mentioned FAST is that they've been in the business the longest, plus I have one of their EFI units on my, one of a kind, fuel injection. It's on my 38 Ford Standard Sedan, which I call my 1961 Hotrod, that is almost finished after a 12 year build. Lots of interruptions during...

Not interested in a Winter car. These cars were meant to be driven, not just stored in a garage. Just my opinion, of course.

    340+ for the STREET

Those are as close as I can come to numbers. I've seen crate 402 or 408 motors with 420 hp, which would probably work. But, I still don't like cast cranks and that is what they usually use with the lower power motors.

I haven't thought much about the Magnum family, but with the roller cam, or going the 3rd Generation hemi could be an option too. However getting into the engine bay is not exactly easy. Thankfully, mother mopar does offer a wiring setup for the late 5.7.

What did Radar try to do here, make your heads look and perform like W-2 heads like I use to have. Gary built a 358" stroked 340 for me about 25 years ago. Which that I still had that engine, but that's a sad story.

Trying to get my head together on a good high performance LA motor for an A body. Yes, I will use this for a daily driver, even in snow. What I'm asking, and I've been out of the game for many years is: Thoughts on a stroker 340? Gas mileage (yes I know that we aren't suppose to be...
