    vertigate shifters

Does the vertigate shifters fit into a factory A-body 4 spd. tunnel? Are they any good? Anyone have experience with them? Are they comprable to the Hurst Super shifter 111? Thanks for the info, T.J.

    Aluminium Flywheels

wow, glad to see my thread still being productive. This is good info. I still haven't put my flywheel in yet to see what difference it will make. I got sidetracked on the duster this summer. When I do, I will make a run at the strip the week before and than after. baseline any improvements. keep...

    new clutch

When dropping the tranny out of bell housing. Be sure to slide tranny back so as not to put alot of weight on output shaft. You can bend them, and it will cause some vibration for you down the road.

    What trans should I run?

I agree with alot of people here, on the cost to convert. i was in the $1200.- $1500. and then a year later I put more $ into it for a rebuild on the Tranny. If I had to do over I would of just went to a Keisler 5 spd. or something similar.

    440 SOURCE flywheel

I also had a 833 in and out of my car 5 times in one day trying to make a Lakewood bell work. Very frustrating!!! Well Mshred, at least you didn't drive it a whole lot and take out your bearings.

I called them when I bought mine, they said to take it off for internally balanced motors.

    Aluminium Flywheels

Well the last couple post have gave me confidence in my purchase of this Aluminium Flywheel i bought. The motor in my car runs 12.50's with a 4.30 gear, So it's not a stock motor or under geared car. Plus when i make the move to put this in it will go behind a stronger motor, my new recent motor...

    magnum flywheel

I like the centerforce dual friction Clutch and pressure plate. It has easy pedal and grabs hard. The Flywheel will have to be determined if the 318 Magnum is externally or internally balanced and how many bolts on the crank flange (that I do not know). 440 source sells a billet steel for a good...

    Aluminium Flywheels

2 1/10th's is alot!!! I am thinking that is what I want, not blowing the tires off. Now do you have to leave at 5500 to keep the motor from stumbling when it hooks, or you you just getting in your optimum powerband. Alot of that I know will be determined by how much Duration you put in your cam...

    Aluminium Flywheels

So I am wrong. The benefit of an Aluminum flywheel is for an engine with alot of torque, not so much a high H.P. short stroke motor? Does the rotating mass of a heavy Flywheel effect the H.P. like say the difference between a posi unit and a spool, or heavy 11" rear drum brakes vs. rear disc or...

    Aluminium Flywheels

Good forum, I could spend hours on there. Did not see any info on the Flywheels tho. Not yet.. I believe most of those guys are hardcore drag racers, maybe not much info for the street/strip driver as well? I will keep looking. I saw your discussion about the Quick time bells. Thanks...

    Aluminium Flywheels

Here is a new debate topic. I want to hear from dragracers that have experimented going from a heavy steel flywheel to an Aluminium flywheel. Was there a significant pickup in trap speed and E.T. and 60 ft. times. etc. etc. Also from what I understand the increases are basically going to...

Need help trying to setup 4-speed conversion

Just commented on your other thread, Ditto to the ones above. I scraped the Lakewood back then, because I didn't have availibility to a welder to fabricate a fix. but I do remember the problem seemed to be with the Bell and the alignment with z-bar back to the clutch fork. let me know what...

    Lakewood bellhousing in A-body conversion

Good luck, I had troubles years ago with a lakewood in my 68 notchback. It was a S.B. Make sure you have the proper Clutch fork and that Z-bar aligns properly. Everything on mine was at an angle, causing alot of problems.

How to launch a manual on the street?

I agree with Mshred, Hooking hard, I don't believe I have ever experienced on the street. Too many things working against you. gravel, slick roads(oily), **** sticking to your tires. Best thing I have found thru costly expense is rolling out 2 about 16-1800 r.p.m.'s and pedaling or feathering...

    8 bolt crank flange

The Crank is for a 340, internally balanced, and it is an older Mopar Performance crank. This 8 bolt flange has an offset to it, Where the Hemi 8 bolt seems like it doesn't from the thread I followed to the one on E-Bay. I believe I found a mopar perf. flywheel thru Mancini, but it is steel and...

    8 bolt crank flange

I need help, I have a 3.51 stroke Mopar performance Crankshaft that has the 8 bolt flange. I...

    18 spline abody box?

That is a nice piece, those are some hellacious shifter rods. i have seen 18 spline short shaft 833's at the carlisle shows on occasion, over the last 6-10 years. i was always told they came out of the hemi a-bodies.

    Blow proof bells

 Thanks demon 408. I can see where a pronblem can evolve, I may be able to clear better. I have a set of old 1 7/8 J.R.C. headers and 2 tubes go over the torsion bar on the D.S. This gives me a little more room around the Z-bar. At least I hope, I will keep your info and get back to...

    Blow proof bells

the add is saying 27 Lbs. Is that all that bad? I don't know. I know the aluminum ones are keeping the rotating weight down, and should rev up quicker, and free up more H.P. I have also heard the heavier flywheels in motion, don't drop the r.p.m.'s as quicker between shifts. This is what i have...
