    904 Band Adjustment

It is a new converter install, but I had to pull the converter towards the flexplate to get them to bolt up, indicating it was all the way in the trans.

When you say to have the converter seated all the way back, I'm not sure exactly what you mean.

    904 Band Adjustment

Specs are right out of the 1971 Plymouth Service Manual. Is it possible they could have been that far out of adjustment and still operated?

    904 Band Adjustment

I recently had the trans on my 71 Duster 225ci out of the vehicle and decided to adjust the bands because I wasn't getting the best shifts. I adjusted the bands to the service manual specs (kickdown=72 in-lbs/back off 2 turns and low/reverse=72 in-lbs/back off 3 1/4 turns). I noticed the...

    Clunk Noise

Checked the ring and pinion backlash today and it is within specs. If I rotate the driveshaft by hand I can hear the clunk, but much quieter, when I rotate it in the reverse direction. Both u joints are new, but the rear one seems to move just a hair. Possible problem with the pinion or u joint...

    Clunk Noise

The pinion yoke rotates, but does not move around in the bore. Is it possible the ring and pinion have too much backlash?

    Clunk Noise

Pulled the driveshaft and the yoke on the end on the trans spins in neutral. Is this normal? Also the clunking noise went away.

    727 Servo Leak?

So it should leak through these holes? This is my first transmission and I'd prefer not to screw it up. Thank you :-D

    727 Servo Leak?

I had the pressure regulated to 30 psi and noticed it leaked a lot. There is a hole at the bottom of the bore that vents to the inside of the case where it seems to leak and also just above the hole used for the test. Both can be seen in the picture. I've tried the original and new rings and get...

    727 Servo Leak?

I'm rebuilding a 727 and am to the point where I am checking the servos for leaks with air pressure and it seems like the low/reverse servo applies much harder than the kickdown servo. Is this normal? I've replaced the sealing rings and checked their fit and they were fine. Any suggestions? Thanks.

    727 Output Shaft Seal

Where were you able to find it? I'd have to find out if the shaft diameter is the same.

    727 Output Shaft Seal

I am looking for an output shaft seal, the one that seals the inside of the drive shaft yoke and sits on the output shaft not the one that is pressed into the extension housing. I've checked multiple online sources but came up with nothing. Can anyone help me? Thanks.

    FABO Member Stranded HELP

Don't know much about auto transmissions, I'm in the process of rebuilding my first, but I'll put in my two cents. According to a trans rebuild book I have, low fluid level is the only roadside fix. Other than that the trans would have to be torn down for other possibilities like governor, valve...
