Getting ready to pull my '72 Duster out of winter storage. Any advice on what should be done besides basics (tune up, fluid changes etc.)?

Not my A body, but winter Sebring

I'll check the itre pressure in the morning and see if they are over inflated. Also, a side note, I noticed on the front bolt for the spring is pretty close to the tire. I've never seen this on a car before, but then I've never had a newer car before.

Not my A body, but winter Sebring

I checked the tires. there is no sign of uneven wearing. The lugs are all tight; I don't own a torque wrench. My concern was I don't want to warp the rotors. But then, This car goes back into storage around April and I'll be back to driving my Duster everyday

Not my A body, but winter Sebring

I guess I'll do what I should have done in the first place and take it to a dealership. It seems every single independent shop here is incompetent! I've never had this problem before, usually the small shops are where you want to go, imo.

Not my A body, but winter Sebring

Today I had the tires of my winter car, a 2004 Chrysler Sebring, rotated. I would have done it my self but without a garage in snow land, that can be interesting. Anyway, after the rotation, there is a loud thumping noise when breaking or accelerating at low speeds. Once the car picks up speed...

    cl scam?

Yes Its a scam. I have received several of those, "offers" every time I have sold things on Craigslist. They use it as a way to steal your bank account information. They send you a fake check, you take it in to be deposited. The fraudulent company uses the transaction information to get into...

what was the last year for just lap belts?

It possibly could have been. It was as bare-bones as they come. According to the build sheet, it appeared the AM radio and automatic transmission were the only "upgrades", if thats what it would be called, it came with.

what was the last year for just lap belts?

My '70 Valiant just had lap belts. It seemed to have the original headliner, and with no tears or holes where the mechanism may have been.

    First Car Stories

First car was a '90 Escort wagon. The transmission went out, along other things in the POS, which led me to Toyota. I had wanted an A body since I was 4, and saw Duel, but finding one was hard. I eventually found a '70 Valiant, 225 /6 in sad shape. So I did what any inexperienced person did, I...

1970 v 2013: How the Darts Stack up

I have never really cared for modern cars, until the new Challenger came out. (Thats probably the first car made in the last 20-25 years I would consider buying. But thats just my opinion.) I thought that Chrysler should have done that with the Dart. Maybe modeled the new one off of the 67-69...

    Engler's is crushing out!!!

Damn! I've only found one yard in Ohio that has stuff older than the 80s! And the one yard with A bodies is mostly crap! What a same.

    Insurance Cost!?

When I had my '70 Valiant, 225 auto, it was $30 a month for something a little higher than straight liability, ( I say liability but there was a deductible and I know it covered more than just basic coverage) That price also included free roadside assistance, as this was my only car. ( and I...

What about this new Ethanol E-15?

Thanks for all the advice! If things keep going the way they're going, it looks like I'll be forced to modify the car at some point down the road. ( Hopefully Not). I can't wait to have a Dart in a few months. Someone had also told me that two-cycle engine oil added to the fuel tanks helps. Is...

What about this new Ethanol E-15?

I have been reading very negative reports about the EPA's push to standardize the use of E-15 gasoline, even though it seems to damage vehicles. I am wanting to purchase a Dart or Valiant as a daily driver in a few months, and am concerned about this Ethanol mandate. Is there an additive (like...

looking for some answers about our hot rodding

They piss me off too. I plan to buy another A body soon and want to be able to drive it for a long, long time. But, we have another thing on our side --- oil companies. In my opinon, the tree huggin facists can try and try, but they will not fully succeed. The oil companies are powerful, and...

    New Challenger vs Original

My problem with newer cars is all of the electronic crap. The nice thing about the older cars is they are all mechanical. You can actually work on them and fix them. I think the new Challengers look cool, but I wonder how many of them will still be running 35+ years from now, due to all of their...

    Junkyards in Southwestern Ohio

I called the salvage yard off of route 4. He said that he had a few A bodies, but was not sure what parts were left on them. Ill probably head out there in a couple of weeks and see what he's got.

    Junkyards in Southwestern Ohio

I have a '70 Valiant and live in Southwestern Ohio. I have been trying to find a salvage yard that has some older A body cars. Does anybody know of any salvage yards in the area that still have older cars? Thanks
