If it was a knock, (with engine off) :) sometimes you can grab the crank pulley and slightly rotate back and forth like you'd do to see if timing chain has slop and you might be able to feel or hear a sound of any excess bearing clearance or other issue.

I have a radiator from an early 70's Coronet in mine and I think a lower hose for it too that is cut down a bit. It's been many years since I put it in so i don't remember the exact year to try the hose but should be similar to the others. I've added a pic of top hose w/ part # that will be good.

Exhaust pipe? Fender bracket broke? I have had a cracked flex plate once, but it squeaked / chirped at a higher pitch.....but not all would be the same. :D Slow the idle way down and it might be easier to chase down.
