Wow thats really detailed. Thank you. I run a 4"x14" high flow paper filter so probably very little restriction there also yes temps run anywhere from 170 at start of race to 220 at end. thank you for doing the diffrent advance/retard tests. Right now as the motor sets it is at 106. I know that...

    Damaged pistons

Ah ok I will check a couple of the ring gaps just for my curiousity. One piston had a valve drop but when I tore it down I found these other 2 also. So am trying to decide if I buy 3 new pistons or a complete set. It has been internal balance +.040 360 so I would like to keep pistons as close to...

    Damaged pistons

So I got this motor on trade and when I pulled it apart I found 2 pistons with top land damage. They are SRP forged flat tops. I was just wondering what would cause this kind of damage. Maybe got hot and seized in the bore? Or maybe just to tight clearance.

    Lifter noise

Well got a little more creative and pulled the lifter out the distributor hole. Had to polish the "piston" to get it to move in the lifter bore. Guess what found 2 more lifters in need of the same treatment. So finally I have a lifter noise free engine. Now if I can get the timing curve and carb...

    Lifter noise

Well the "bad" lifter is the #1 intake but there is no way it will come outwithout pulling the intake. I tried every hole on that head and the lifter just won't fit. @#$@@ so I guess when I get the time and new gaskets I'll just get a new lifter for that hole as I don't want to do it twice.

    Lifter noise

By the way I will find the "ticking" lifter and pull it and clean it to see if that helps.I have a new wix filter to put on it so I will do that first but seams to me that lifter should not bleed down so quik. if the filter is defective it could retard the oil pressure but a filter won't make...

    Lifter noise

I just got my new 360 running and after 100 miles when I staret it after sitting for more than a couple of hours I have a loud lifter tick. After 15-30 seconds the sound goes away but I need to fix this. Has anyone had trouble with the Lunati lifters in the Voo-do kits I have the 60400 or...

    compression on a 360

All the stock blocks I checked were .100+ in the hole. Speed pro makes some nice hyper pistons reasonable and you don't have to run extra large ring gaps. I'm useing the "405" ones 1.637 dh should be right at 9-1 with .053 head gasket and 62cc heads. The "116" ones are .05" taller for 9 to 10-1...

    Traction issues

I had the wheel spin issue with my duster. I like more of a "G" machine so while messing around one day I "rebuilt" my rear springs from 2 sets of old used ones. I have 6 leafs per side with a "extra" front segment. In the front I have the .89" bars and a 1 1/8" sway bar and also have a 3/4" bar...

small block differences. someone want to fill me in please?

On the 318 cranks I think if you dig a little deeper you would find that some heavy duty pickups with the 318 had a steel crank up untill 72 or 73. I think they were listed as a 318-3 motor.
