    Torque converter question....

    318 you need a converter with an anti-balloon plate. those converters usually cost 2 to 3 hunderd more. Under sever acceleration the converter expands pushing the crank forward against the thrust bearing.

    I have a friend with a 77 Aspen with a 360 magnum & multi plug 42RE trans. Can I make his Over drive work with a rocker switch? I've done this with a three prong type, but a multi prong type. Any help greatly welcome. Thanks AL:prayer:

    Slipping 2-3 shift

    1-2 shift is just band apply. 2-3 shift is band release/ front drum apply, a combination has to be timed perfactly in order to happen properly. as the other guys stated band adjustment is critical.     Not likely a valve body problem. Pull the pan and check the front band strut or burnt band. Could also be a stuck governor.

    I think you have the mount on ether the wrong side of the engine or the wrong side of the ears on the block.

    What year trans? the newer ones someware around 74 and up must have the accuumulator piston locked in position. if not you will find this condition.

    Hard shift to 2nd and 3rd

    sounds like someone has removed the accumulator spring,(this is a common trick for performance) or the accumulator piston is stuck. remove the valve body, check for missing spring 1-1/2"X 2-1/2". Al
