    416 stroker temp?

Well, IT IS ALL FIXED. Friggin 180 degree thermostat was stuck and only partially open. Almost no flow through the radiator. I did a thermal check and top hose read 160 while the bottom hose read 90 degrees. Drained some fluid, pulled the gooseneck, removed that piece of made in china or...

    416 stroker temp?

I see the rich plugs. They were light brown when I pulled them a year ago? Would a blown power valve cause this? How would you proceed to get things in order. Do you think the distributor might have turned a little when I got on it? I did buy a vacuum guage to plug on the carb to see where...

    416 stroker temp?

I am seeming to have real quick shift points from 1 to 2 to 3? I have been playing with the shift cable to get the adjustment there for better shifts. I have a built torque converter which my tranny guy said he ordered a stall speed of about 2800RPM. Speed shop said to be careful on the...

    416 stroker temp?

Hi, just checked my slips and I originally bought a 160 degree, but returned it for a 180 degree thermostat. So I have a 180 degree thermostat in the car. My mistake. 6 years ago...

    416 stroker temp?

No, both hoses are good and brand new. I actually installed the lower hose using aluminum hose connectors to make that 90 degree bend to prevent a hose collapse or leaks.

    416 stroker temp?

Ya, We rejetted to holley 770 when we dynotuned the car. It has been running fine for 2 years. I was even wondering if these autometer water temp gauges are all that accurate? But non the less, the guage ran a consistant 190-195 for the past 2 years. For it now creep up to 210-215 when it...

    416 stroker temp?

My 416 stroker has been done and driven now for about 2 years to cruise nights and shows. Today, about 70 degrees now, I took her out for a cruise. She usually runs at about 190 degrees. Sometimes creeps up to 200. But today it starter to go over the 200 up to about 210-215? Very strange...

    Which end to cut ugh!!

Anti=collapse spring?? I got this car empty with no radiator or hoses, so I assumed the lower hose as I bought from Napa came complete. No spring. My hose down there is a little oval at the bend, but I think it will soften up with heat and be ok. My temp gauge on my trial run went up to...

    Which end to cut ugh!!

Finally, Got it. I had to trim almost 3" off the top end. Also it was a big help to have somebody up top while I was down below. But I finally got the hose to fit. It is a little restricted at a bend, but I think it will soften up with time. Temp is running where it is suppose to be...

    Which end to cut ugh!!

I am not a purist, so whatever works is fine for me. And that may be an option. I am right now trying to figure out why a stock hose will not fit what I have. Everything is in the correct place as stock?? Guy at the Napa store told me these prebent hoses are suppose to pop on with no...

I have not tightened any clamps yet. So I will try and put the bottom on first, but the cut on the top will end up right where the bend is suppose to be??

    Which end to cut ugh!!

Having a hard time installing my lower radiator hose. As picture shows, I pushed the upper end onto the water pump neck and am finding the lower end to be sitting way to low to pop on the radiator tube? In order to raise the lower end up, I would have to cut the upper end by about 3" which...

    CVR power steering brackets fitment

Wow, I think the hardest part about doing my demon was getting brackets and pulleys to work with each other. Point at hand. My 340 was built with edelbrock aluminum heads. Problem is, nobody told me that these aluminum heads protruded out in front of the face of the bloc by about 1"? Enter...

    MRL Performance

Mike worked with me over the phone and sold me all the components I needed to build my 416 340 stroker motor. Just had it dyno tuned on a Mustang dyno. Pulled 350 horsepower and 512 lbs of torque at the rear wheels. I asked for a nice street car and I am very happy with the choices he made...

    dyno day for the demon

Yup. I guess that's my next step. I am assuming that my torque went way up because of 2 factors. First was my total timing was set at 50 degrees which was way off. Second was that I made an aweful mistake of not filling the tranny and was down about 4 quarts of fluid. Lucky I did not damage...

    dyno day for the demon

OK folks. Back to a different dyno shop today. They brought in a mechanic who likes to work on cars with carbs. First thing he noticed when he pulled a baseline run was the car was running too lean. This time the tranny is full. He then proceeded to check the timing. He pulled the number...

    dyno day for the demon

OK. I just realized this week that I had not checked the fluid level in the 727 before doing the dyno pull. So I checked it and I put in 2 more quarts of royal purple and it appears to still be down a quart. SO, I screwed up big time and I am lucky the tranny is running good after pulling...

    dyno day for the demon

Pulled at 350 horsepower and 360 ftlbs of torque at about 5500 RPM. I am told the engine HP should be about 20% higher or somewhere in the 425HP range. I thought it would be a little more, but I am thrilled the way she rolls along. Plenty of power and a nice ride with great idle for a...

    3" exhaust? 2.5" exhaust...??

My 416 stroker is in the 450-500 hp range. Havnt dyno it yet. My dougs headers have a 3" collector. So I thought I would try 3" x pipes with 3" mufflers that drop to 2 1/2" going out to the tailpipes and tips. So far its a great sound and nice tone and seems to breath real nice with the aluminum
