    1973 Duster charging issue

There was a change in the wiring about that year; I can't recall the exact year but my '73 is diagram is different than the older style charging system. I believe testing of the two systems is also different.

Not a a body but still a mopar!

It does sound like the charging system is not working. If battery is full and you run it for awhile and then the battery is dead it is not charging. Could be alt or the alt is not being switched on, by ignition or regulator. The regulator on that is probably built in the alt.

    Bad ECU from the factory!!?

Last summer we had a '70 Duster come into the shop. The owner painted the engine bay and installed a new ecu and was never able to start his car after that. The problem was that the box wasn't getting a ground. Scraped paint behind box and it fired right up! All in the ground. Of course you...

    what do you call it

I just went through this a few days ago on the Dart. Same thing installing a throttle cable. I have decided to rewire the entire vehicle. New fuse panel and a kit. I got a kit a few months ago for a Vette. It was $180 I think I got it at Del City; but may have gotten it elsewhere.

    wiring problems 74 valiant

Question, you said you were putting out 14 volts; but how many amps are you putting out? I had a similair problem with a dodge truck and the brushes were bad in the alternator, volts were constant but it wouldnt charge battery because amps were too low. I replaced the brushes and had no...

    Wire free engine compartment

Can't wait to see pics. When I do the Duster I am planning on putting battery and fuse panel in the trunk. I will probably make a channel that runs under the car for all the wiring. It will be completely sealed so I shouldn't have any moisture issues.

    Dash Lights Problem! Help!

I beleive the bulbs are 194 style. I would pull the cluster and check all the bulbs behind it. It is easier to pull if you lower the steering column. I too have a dark dash...only one bulb works on mine...I replaced them a worked good for awhile and blew again....I just haven't gotten...

    Dash Lights Problem! Help!

Have you checked the bulbs behind the cluster? Indicator lamps (high beam, blinker, oil etc) and dash lights use dif bulbs. Does your lights on radio work? If they work then your switch is probably good. When you replace them use leds they wont blow again. superbrightleds.com

    cheap security

Switch can be a good idea. But wont a good theif pop the hood run a jumper to the coil and jump the starter sol? Just a question.....or don't they do it like this anymore? I would use a disconnect for the battery that is run by a relay and switch. You could always hook a magneto up to the...

    CD/Radio in trunk

I have a clarion cd changer from about 1993...it has wireless remote. I mount it in back and works great. One question when looking at decks I would ask is: Is the remote infrared or uhf. UHF can shoot through and work deck without a direct "line of sight" like infrared needs. Mine is...

No spark, sudden failure. Electronic ignition '65 A-100

I have had problems when running them without the resistor. I would burn through the coils very quickly. They must use resistor. Before buying coil, make sure your ign switch is working correctly, sounds like it is, but always better to make sure. Also check to see if your trigger wire is...
