Why did I spin a main bearing?

I had my filter relocated (not just an angle adapter.....a full double line relocation) and found that either the pump was not strong enough, or a line was partly blocked somehow........burnt one of my mains to a crisp..........it just starved........squealed really bad before it flew...

    Dream quickly becoming a nightmare...

If I were you, I'd swap out the carb for something different.......I went through something similar with an Edelbrock on my Demon years ago......the carb turned out to be an absolute lemon from the factory.......NEVER stopped causing problems....... If it were ME, I'd swap out the carb and...

    Fluid-Damper ??

Fishy, I have no idea what you're talking about.......Neither you or anyone else responding "ruffled my feathers"...........From your last post it might seem like your feathers were afluff for some reason. We know it's a balance issue..........we've been over every other system on the car a...

    Fluid-Damper ??

I didn't rebuild the motor, and from what I can gather from the builder (which is sparse) he as much as admits that care was not taken to internally balance the 273, which it should have. So, we have an internally balanced 273 that may or may not have been properly balanced........I have NO...

    Fluid-Damper ??

You can "idle" a car at 5000 rpm if you want to........... The vibration is present when the car is not moving. The question was, will a fluid damper HELP a noticeable vibration in a motor where the current balancer and converter are CORRECT for that motor. We have one answer from his...

    Fluid-Damper ??

On a new 273 rebuild (.30 over, very mild cam), the motor came back with a slight imbalance..... It COULD be that they used a new converter on my 904 with a counterweight....I have NOT verified this yet, but will shortly..... My question is this: If the converter is neutral, and they used...

    273 SKIPS and MISSES.......

On my freshly rebuilt 273, there seems to be a problem..... Not the least of which was the fact that my rebuilder actually RE-INSTALLED my old crudded-up and crusty Champion plugs in that brand new motor, AND the old distributor AND rotor that weren't good enough to put on a 1950's Rat-Rod. (I...

    SB Valve Cover Bolts....Too Short

Well, since the nearest Ace is over 25 miles from here, yeah my time (and gas) are valuable........ maybe you could get your own comedy show. .......and to the "screw you" comment, I asked a very pointed question....."exact" size, from experience, is what I stated as the question. Any...

    SB Valve Cover Bolts....Too Short

For cryin' out loud.......... This is why I asked for "EXACT" length from someone's own experience...... A 1" bolt will NOT be sufficient to hold the cover. A 1" THREAD might be. (which would be a 1-1/4" bolt) I figured there MUST be someone here that had the correct bolt length, or a...

    SB Valve Cover Bolts....Too Short

    Hydraulic cam into 273?

My engine builder said he could install a hydraulic cam and lifter set-up and retain my adjustable rockers.........I'd never heard of this before, and he told me of a 440 they have set up like it........ Is there a BENEFIT to him installing it this way?? No hijack intended.......I think...

    No Starter.....!!!!

I hooked the ground from my tester to the chassis. SO, if I hook the ground to the BROWN terminal (I assume this is the NSS connector you speak of), and it's hot, then I have a bad relay............yes? I'll give it a shot.
