any body use stuff by pypes?

Pypes makes a great repop of the A & B Body exhaust tips.....I just put a pair on the Cuda. Excellent quality.

Thrush welded turbo muffler on my V-6 Dakota

I have those Thrush welded on my Cuda, BUT they were loud also.......not just a bit loud, but kind'a annoying.....I opted to weld on some shorty glasspacks (8") at the end of the tails before the tips..... Now it's just right.

    Custom "Resonators"....CooooooooooLL

Here's one from the Demon project.........3" Chrome tip, cut to custom length, and welded over the bell of the glasspack.....you can see the tip of the glasspack peeking out.....Looked pretty cool........BUT, you can just cut that off so it appears like a full 3" exhaust.

    Custom "Resonators"....CooooooooooLL

It's just a matter of clearance side to side between the springs and the tank, and making the full resonator first so you can perfectly set the desired length when hooking it to the tail. Measure 3 times, cut once....then Mig.

    Custom "Resonators"....CooooooooooLL

I welded a 3" round tip directly on the glasspack for the exhaust on my Demon......When you looked into the tip, you saw a "double" outlet....sounded good, and really took the bite out of the Magnaflows that were on it. This same basic set-up worked great on the Dart Sport. It deepens the...

    Custom "Resonators"....CooooooooooLL

On the 67 Cuda, I installed a set of new Thrush "Welded Series" Chambered mufflers with a full 2.25" dual set-up, exiting with 2" outlets (273...didn't really need more than that.......just a bit over stock). The Thrush sounded "OK", BUT they just weren't quite right.....a little raw...

    67 Cuda Header Install ??

Haven't done headers in a while, but remember that even on my B-Bodies they were a real pain to put in.......On my little Cuda, there seems to be NO room at the Inn......... Could I please hear from some guys who've done this install before.....? 67 Cuda with a 273 and power...

    76 Duster....Manifolds to Dual Downpipes

Well, they do fit tight and to the point all the way around the flange........I found a gasket online, but it's for the flange only, not an actual donut. NOW, the passenger side pipe runs headlong into the oil filter......SO, I guess I'll have to install a relocation kit in there...

    76 Duster....Manifolds to Dual Downpipes

I bought a complete exhaust, manifold back, from a member here......can't remember who, and it really doesn't matter..... I have a stock manifold set-up on a 318 '76 Duster......He sold me a set of dual conversion downpipes........they look nice....no junk......QUESTION...... Do I need the...

Does your X-pipe exhaust drone loudly?

Yeah I guess...........I couldn't afford the correct tips so I modified some round slanted chromies........looked pretty good.

Does your X-pipe exhaust drone loudly?

That's good advice, but remember that an A-Body tip points straight out......not down.

Does your X-pipe exhaust drone loudly?

My Demon did it and I wanted to scream sometimes.......finally fabricated some "shorty" glasspacks as a resonator on each side, welded on some chrome tips, and VOILA' ! BEAUTIFUL rich sound without the annoyance or broken windows..........much better inside the cabin too.

    Manifold Duals ???

I don't get it............. How can a "chain" muffler shop find downpipes, but we can't? Go figure.............. I STILL haven't found any for the Duster manifolds.
  14. pastortom1

    Manifold Duals ???

...........cause $100. headers run too hot for the engine bay, and generally look like crap.........and are a nightmare to install..........much easier to use a downpipe.
  15. pastortom1

    Manifold Duals ???

I have a Duster with a 318 block and stock manifolds.......I need to build an exhaust, which is no big deal, except finding drop-pipes from the manifolds (you know, a collector pipe, so to speak...though they're not collecting much). I can buy complete exhausts or build one from scratch, but...

    Exhaust tips

I hadn't completed the hangers yet in these pictures, but you get the jist of it.............I really like the buggers........Thick gauge too.

    Exhaust tips

Great stuff.........Nice stainless........takes polishing well too, IF you want a higher gloss than already there. On my second purchase, I had to return one due to a size error.......They picked up the tab completely and had my replacement on the way before I sent the other back. Here's a...

Help, my exhaust is killing me.

Bottom line is almost always to lean that thing out........and be sure the timing is set to handle the lean mixture. THEN, be sure to check and re-check your FIREWALL........look at every single place where air can get into the cabin.....seal them up, if they are open, even with something as...

    X-pipe vs. H-pipe

Yup........pretty good stuff...........I know it helped me make up MY mind. 8)

    X-pipe vs. H-pipe

With all this in mind, in your estimation, what could a Mopar guy expect in average increases for a 360 4BBL that currently runs stock manifolds to dual 2.5" pipes, and no X or H installed? If he adds an X setup, what might he expect?
  21. pastortom1

    X-pipe vs. H-pipe

Explain the "difference" you talk about versus no pipe.......... I wanna know from guys who've done this just what we can expect the differences to be. 8)

    Should I Paint Exhaust?

I have to agree with Boxer................ There are better quality paints out there than in years previous, but if you want it to last a good time and look nice, ceramic coating is great. If you paint, you'll need a high heat self etching primer to really grab onto the...

    looking for quietest exhaust

I had this problem on Demon with a 3" exhaust.....LOUUUUUUUD........added a pair of shorty glasspacks (12") to the rear, with my chrome tips welded to the ends......clean install, great looks, and solved the extreme noise. :read2:

    LOUD Exhaust Tamed.........

I'm not sure what number they are..........just too loud.....they were on the car when purchased, and I can't see any numbers or tags.

    LOUD Exhaust Tamed.........

    Dumb drip..............forgot the picture......................

    LOUD Exhaust Tamed.........

Here's a look at the inside by the inlets.......you can see where it was easily notched anad tacked in place.........it's solid, with no rattles........nice deep rumble, but easy on the ears, and as I said, easy to change out at a later date. :glasses8:

    LOUD Exhaust Tamed.........

A while back, I wrote about my Flowmaster duals mounted to my small block Demon...........2.5" pipes, dumping into 3" by 16"long chrome tips that acted like megaphones........I swear this thing sounded like a big Hemi....the tips acted like amplifiers, and with my cam and timing, it was almost...

    Exhaust Tips....Resonators?
