TOOL FIND at flea market Anything I should know??

Got lucky today and found a newly opened flea market that had a tool corner. Anything you could find is $1. I personally have always used Craftsman tools and still have my original set from my 21st birthday 25 years ago. I think they are a good bang for the buck tool. I was happy to find a...

    Mixing oil weights

ticking that goes away can also be a broken manifold stud that warms up and expands after a few seconds. Anyone with a hemi truck has had a broken manifold bolt or three

5.7 HEMI VVT in Ram 1500

that is a cam and lifter failure for sure. it will actually run normally until higher in the rpm range where the valves are not clearing the exhaust well enough. I would stay away, or price the truck needing a new engine which would be in the 5-6k range.

5.7 HEMI VVT in Ram 1500

if you can take it on a test ride without the owner, go on highway and try and go WOT and run all the way up the RPM range. If there is a misfire due to bad cam/lifter it will set off the CEL. That's the biggest issue with this motor. check oil pans as they might rust through at that...

Your thoughts on the 5.7 hemi tick

The diablo sport predator is a hand held programmer that plugs into the OBD port. You can change some perameters of the truck and put different tunes into the truck. Like a performance tune for 91 octane or such. It also helps eliminate MDS as an option. I never found MDS activated to be...

Your thoughts on the 5.7 hemi tick

The hemi tick and the fact that they are also experiencing cam and lifter failures are not necessarily related. I've been lucky and just passed 205k on my 2010 5.7 Ram. I figure that if it ever happens to me I'm going to bite the bullet and pay the 4k to have new cam and lifters put in. If...

    Local Barn Find

Was taking a drive and decided to stop and ask about the Le Mans (was a Grand Prix) sitting in the yard with the missing tarp since the woman was outside raking. Asked if it was for sale and she said everything is going through probate currently since her husband passed away last summer. It...

    its been awhile part 2

I just picked up a stack of vintage NOS racing sprockets by SUGINO. It was from a bicycle shop owner who had a bunch of NOS stuff still at his house. Do you deal with vintage racing bikes? I have like 27 brand new all different sizes. Are these things worth anything? I took a chance cause...

Is a GMC truck just a dressed up Chevy truck?

GMC is always in my mind is and always has been the higher level truck with more options, tech, etc..... meaning the Chevy's were usually abused a bit more and harder to come by in good shape. So when it comes to my square body preference, Chevy > GMC no matter what. If I had an OBS I...

Is a GMC truck just a dressed up Chevy truck?

I always find it amusing that someone asks a question and the first thing someone can think of is homosexuality. It's what our younger generation would describe as "a little sus"

    Minivan Time fellas

look into any transportation companies nearby or limo services. They often have minivans with high mileage but they are well taken care of. I myself have a 2010 RAM with 205k miles on it now and nobody would ever want to buy it from me if they knew the mileage, but if they saw it they would be...

    Any new Ram Owners?

I have a 2010 Hemi 5.7 that I have owned since new. Just turned 200,000 miles on original motor and transmission. Have replaced brakes and shocks obviously, but the list of replacements to this point have been: water pump at 80,000 miles, I did that one myself. New radiator as the old one...

Rare Find? Gas Master Manifold Guage

So my uncle who switches out cars constantly and has thrown me numerous chevelle/GTO stuff in the past said that he thought I might like this guage. I can't find much on it but one link to a story from Hemmings about the same piece. This is in fact an original version with heavy metal...

    Post Office strikes again

I can't say enough good things about my local post office. The three workers at the desk have been there forever and know some of the popular shippers like myself by name and what we send out. The only time I go to UPS is to send a larger very heavy package. Otherwise you can't beat the post...
