    8.8 swap

Oops, sorry, I guess I wasn't specific enough. I was talking about the rubber brake hose that runs from the car to the axle, not anything to do with the emergency brake cable. Sorry.

What is being used for the rubber flex brake line that runs from the rear axle, to the hard mounting point on the body? Is is a standard size, or metric?? Not sure.

Pinion Bearing Preload 8.75 - Fish Scale?

I guess you could. A torque wrench is usually either in inch-pounds or foot-pounds. The force for 1 inch pound would be if you took a lever 1 inch long and applied a force of 1 pound to it at a 90 degree angle. 12 inch pounds is equal to 1 foot pound. The trick to using a fish scale, would...

    Pinion angle w/driveshaft in.

You can use a socket the right size against the u-joint cap on both the transmission slip yoke and the pinion yoke. Just hold it tight against the bottom of the cap and make sure that the yoke is oriented so that it is level side to side.

What is the best way to get an overdrive auto in a 67 Barracuda?

Put a GM 200-4R 2004R, 2004R Transmissions, Performance 2004R, 2004R Monster Transmission, 200-4R Transmission Heavy Duty Performance with a Wilcap adapter plate. Wilcap Company Transmission Adapters Didn't see the 440 part. That makes things harder I think.

New commercial mount for 2004R transmission

I'll try to explain it a different way then, if you were to have the car up in the air on a lift, and had the driveline off, and you had a tape measure in your right hand, and you put the end of the tape measure against the tallest portion of the transmission tunnel, relative to your head...

New commercial mount for 2004R transmission

Does anyone have a measurement from the center of the output shaft of the transmission to the bottom of the transmission tunnel? I'm just wondering if I have too much, too little angle on the dangle in regards to the transmission slope front to back.

New commercial mount for 2004R transmission

Also, as far as transferring forces from the torsion bar sockets goes, just take a gander to the outside of each of those sockets. Considerable resistance to rotation there will be kept in check by the frame connectors.

Not an A body but just seeing

I did check the ATF fluid level. It looked fine and did not smell like a burned up turd. I couldn't hear any clicking over the noise of the engine from the driver's seat, I'll have to get someone to sit in it while it's up on the hoist and run through the gears while I listen from below.

Not an A body but just seeing

I did not crawl under the van to check that specifically, but I can feel the detente's when I run the shift lever up and down through the gears, and you can definitely feel a difference when it's in neutral versus a gear.

Not an A body but just seeing

Hey, my buddy has a 2001 Dodge Grand Caravan and the transmission has taken a crap. If you put it into any gear, R, D, whatever, you can rev the engine and it doesn't go. It doesn't make any horrendous sounds or smell like cooked tranny fluid, but it feels like it just barely wants to move...

    8.75 Green Bearings question

So I found out today that the Green Bearing on my driver's side isn't very happy. It has a little play and isn't as tight as another set I have. That being said, I have a good set of Green bearings on the original 5x4 axles. I don't suppose there's any way that I could remove a bearing from...

Will GM 200r4 work with factory floor shift location?

I put a 2004-R in my 68 Barracuda too, pretty happy with it. I'm going to be getting one of these from Dakota Digital so that I can have both neutral safety and a backup light http://www.dakotadigital.com/index.cfm/page/ptype=product/product_id=60/category_id=401/mode=prod/prd60.htm...

    Overdrive Options

I cut mine out and replaced it with some 1/4" x 4" flat stock that I bent into a U shape on a friend of mine's press break. [/IMG] Then I welded up a simple cross member that mounts to my frame connectors. [/IMG] Personally I don't have any worries about the torsion bars or the...
