You go insure this thing, and get in a accident, perhaps not your fault, and as a "valuable" classic car, I can assure you the insurance company will investigate, and classic insurance companies are pretty knowledgeable on these cars, you will be screwed....

The original car was probably a rust bucket or not economical to repair, so some body probably took some 71 peices, and a 71 VIN (a felony by the way) and attached it to a 72 body. How do you know the 72 body isn't stolen? Then VIN has been removed, although it is located in other spots on the body.

That is a throw together car, it's definitely a 72, so the vin numbers have been swapped, IMO it would be foolish for ANYONE to buy that car, at ANY price. Run run run run

My thoughts are be VERY suspicious of a rebody/vin swapping. Post some pics of the car, there are numerous differences

VIN tampering laws exist for a reason. It is quite possible, the OP poster bought what he was told was a legit, restored, 70 "H" code swinger. Now if in fact it ISN'T, then he was mislead, and if he sells the car to someone later, he might be miss representing the car also. None of us here are...

Got any more pics of the car? Looks nice, I just cringe when I see shady practices like VINS swaps, rebodys, stolen cars ect. Hopefully that's not the case in your situation!

I seriously doubt ANYONE would remove a rally dash frame, cluster, wiring harness and all the other parts and replace them with standard non-340 swinger parts, during a legit restoration.

I'd be checking some numbers if I were you, car might be a rebody, possibly stolen, who knows. That's why it's a good idea to check VINS before purchasing, imo

Time fades these colors, and different surfaces will fade at different rates. Also I think they had multiple suppliers of materials back in the day, so anyone expecting the colors to all be exactly the same will be in for a disappointment for sure. The right way to do it is just like momoparman...

Redoing a 71 Swinger, black interior, and am gonna repaint the doorframes, dash and steering column... the door frames appear to have been quite a bit glossier than the dash frame, thinking of going all glossy, or all satin or semi-gloss.... like to see some pics of black interiors to give me...

The bracket to hold the turn signal flasher? not totally sure about that though.....
