    What have I got?

Then you have a salvaged car. Most likely wrecked really bad and pieced together using a '68 car as a donor.

    What have I got?

Ok, found another discussion: Without the fender tag, broadcast/build, sheet or some other factory documentation there is no way to tie the vin# to the so#. The body is not stamped with the vin# it's stamped with a sales order number. So even if you find a correct vin#, you can not prove it...

    What have I got?

Found on another discussion: The body has the last six digits (of the vin) displayed in several spots. Inner fenders, top of radiator support, and rear trunk deck support. *EDIT: looks like this may be for 1969 and newer** See next post.

    What have I got?

Just out of curiosity, you mentioned that the dash was most likely now a '68 dash- So, does the dash still have the vin plate on the top of the 68-69 style dash frame? Do you have a title to match that? Is it possible you have a very early 68? I know my '68 has a number under the trunk seal...

    68 barracuda fastback buildsheet location

Mine was located under the springs of the rear seat cushion. It was completely intact with just a little rust mark from the springs. If your car hasn't been disassembled before, you may get lucky and find it there.

    bolt and hardware cleaning

For dirty bolts with little rust and assorted small parts, you can get a 1 gallon can of carburetor cleaner (soak) from your local parts store that even has a little basket in there to help retrieve the parts. Soak your small parts overnight, remove, wipe, and let dry. Makes them look very very...

Cool barn find: 68 Barracuda 340-S 4spd fstbk red on red!!...they are still out there

Wow! Great find. Looks like it is in pretty good shape! Nice to see another similar looking car with great options being restored!

    can you buy this piece..

IF you are talking about the F fitting... unless your car is a show car and you need the original part, go to your local autoparts store and buy a vacuum F that is about the same size. It won't have the screw hole, but I was able to stretch the tubes enough to catch the F on the edge of the...

    Modern style headlights

I would HIGHLY recommend setting up the relays for your headlights. Whether you buy a harness/relay kit, or make your own (it isn't that hard), you will see a MAJOR difference. That upgrade provides the voltage necessary to power your headlights instead of losing a significant amount of power...

    Modern style headlights

I have noticed a craze recently with the 4wd truck owners converting their headlamps over to HIDs, especially the over wattage blue ones. What really is bad is that they don't consider those that have to drive TOWARDS their vehicle. All they consider is the cool blue (or white) factor of the...

What is the name for Y3 yellow...

Ok, by looking at old brochures, JY3 or Y3 is listed as Light Gold or Honey Gold. Haven't found anything with the word "Yellow" in it. http://www.oldcarbrochures.org/NA/Dodge/1973_Dodge/1973_Dodge_Challenger_Brochure/1973-Dodge-Challenger-04...

    '72 scamp ?

Mom drove a 72 Scamp from new until 1985. I can remember two main issues with the car- rust around the bottom of the vinyl top and a metallic blue paint job that faded and peeled before it was 5 years old. Otherwise it was a great little car. IF the car is complete, runs well, and isn't a...

Show Us Pictures of 2nd Generation Barracudas

This car is 10 mins down the road from me. 318 car. Could be a good project or driver with a little detail work, but WAY overpriced. Dealer keeps 30+ classics on the lot (loves old cars) but overprices them to try to catch a local military guy who wants a cool car.

    Car info signs for shows?

Keep in mind that if you can find anyone to do the "art" for you board (or do it yourself), you can take the file down to your local Walmart, Staples, etc.... and have it printed poster board size pretty cheap. Install in a poster frame or mounted on foam-board (a service of the printer) and...

    whats your favorite year barracuda?

That is a great question. Long answer: Actually, when I started looking for my first car, my dad 1st suggested a 65-66 Mustang since we had restored a few and were familiar with the car. I wanted something different and and was familiar with the 70-73 Barracuda's that were in many of the Hot...

    audio question

You may want to consider stepping up to a set of these kickpanels with speakers for the front. You don't have to cut anything, they will provide a good balance with your 6x9s, and they don't detract from the interior. I put a set in my Barracuda, but upgraded the speakers in them and they...

Barracuda Formula S Experts Opinions Needed

Be careful... the listing says ...with AN original 340... not with THE original 340... I betcha that isn't the original number matching engine. Probably isn't the original 4-speed either.

Barracuda Formula S Experts Opinions Needed

I've done the disc brake upgrade. My car was a 318 car with drums. The discs was an affordable upgrade and work great for me. That car has power brakes which should be even nicer to drive. It gives you the 1973 large bolt pattern which is nicer for finding wheels to run. I would check to...

That is definately a '69 cluster. Notice the black centers to the gauge pods. Looks like the tach is there. Dashpad should be maroon like the seats and headliner. Here is mine just as a reference for the carpet and dash color. Mine is standard interior and I have a Grant steering wheel and...

Barracuda Formula S Experts Opinions Needed

Dashpad can be removed and dyed to the original burgundy- no biggie there. Carpet should be maroon too. Woodgrain not original and chrome on dash needing redone. It may be a 69 cluster which would explain the speedo. Small items such as aftermarket A/C compressor (conversion from Classic Auto...

    Advice on 67 Barracuda Convertible

It really depends on what you purpose of the car is. Show car- no... Collector, not without a whole lot of work... Great driver? Probably so! As long as the car is mechanically sound and if rust issues have been fixed where nothing falls out or pops out, then it could be a fun car. Do you...

    Advice on 67 Barracuda Convertible

Definitely a gold car. Look at that trunk photo on the left hinge support. There is gold peeking out where someone didn't mask carefully. Definitely a poor repaint too since there is paint on everything that doesn't get paint-the gas fill tube, the shock absorber nuts, brake lines, etc. It...
