Well, I am not sure what you mean by that..... I used an OEM style sender.....when I pulled the old original one it looked the same as what I was putting in.....??? So not sure....but if that is the issue I guess that explains it..... But wouldnt an "oem style" part be the correct type?

Actually, I had measured my current (assume original) tank when I had it down and empty. Added 5 gallons to the empty tank to get me to the gas station, about 3 miles away, and added another 9 gallons. That is why I have been figuring 14 gallons. But like I said, according to the books my tank...

I better probably clarify a little though - When I say it worked, it did....mostly. LOL When I fill up the tank, it reads full. When it says there is a half tank it was pretty close. When it reads 1/4 tank, though, not so sure it perfect. When it hits 1/4 tank, I can get 10.5 or so gallons...

If it started just fine before with no issues, and now it doesnt, it stands to reason that it is more likely to be something you touched as the problem, not a new problem. Even though you just moved the coil aside, you could have loosened up the connectors on the coil wires....or any other...

Thats the stuff they use to seal the electronics I'd bet. Too much heat, looks like to me....is the car running ok?

If you disconnect the wire going to the sending unit and put it ground, does the gauge work then?

Well, I got the summits. Right on the faces of the gauges it says SUN.....so nice to know they arent complete crap at least.... I used some stiff black poly line and slid that over the provided white line..perfect fit and it gives the line inside an extra measure of protection and leak...

Decided to get the accel superstock coil for now......took the blaster2 back. No issues mounting the accel in the stock location according to the directions....couldnt get the vibration blaster except ot special order it.....figured the (cheaper) accel coil will do the job...and about the same...

I am working on getting the ignition in my 72 fish reconnected.72 body, 74 318 engine.... I got the Bill Evans engine harness for electronic ignition and it has two 2-spade connectors for the ballast. My car had a single ballast so I went to my local Pep Boys and bought a new dual unit...

I dont have the stock coil or bracket.....so I bought the chrome MSD bracket and am trying to decide where to mount it.... hate to make it look hacked in...

Think I'll go with the stock ecu from napa maybe and then a new ballast resister.....I assume I need a 4 prong? My current one is 2 prong.... I was just going to ask for an ECU and ballast resister for a 74 318.....the napa dudes oughta be able to handle that.....

That makes a lot of sense. I may wait until I have the new engine and tranny harness in and battery cables hooked up. Bill Evans said that the fusible link is part of the headlight harness, which appears right....I would just need the other end of it, which would go to the battery.......
