    Have spool mounts, after a couple of years started to get some noticeable movement, added a torque strap, no movement. Approx 385 hp 360 stick driven with enthusiasm.

    drop a running 318 into the one that is closest to being back on the road. It is easier to work on a second car when the first is driving. when time and money comes available, rebuild the 273 for the commando car, drop it in place of the 318 and keep the running 318 for the second car.

    Also look for a used late 80's 318, factory roller cam and with fuel injection should have very little cyl wall wear. add a factory commando intake and carb, it would be a great driver.

    Since a mild built 318 would have about the same HP as a Commando 273, Hp is Hp so wouldn't be false advertising.

    Why not keep the LD340, open it up to the T/Q size and use it with the T/Q ? That is what I am running on mine and LOVE it!

    It looks like he is sucking oil through the breather into the base of the carb, since oil is heavier than atomized fuel, it is more than likely being pulled to the rear two ports in that dual plane intake. before pulling anything, I would put a proper pcv system on the motor.

    That looks like strait vacuum into a breather. the breather hose should go to the air cleaner, the opposite valve cover should have a pvc valve and hose going to the bottom of the carb. How does it run hooked up that way?
