Suggestions Wanted For 408 Stroker Mufflers

There's a grey Duster with Borla XR1's. The video is titled , Borla XR1 Mopar 408 idle. Sounds amazing! Hopefully someone can add the link to the video. I don't know how. I have Dynomax Ultra Flows on my 408. Sounds like factory Mopar exhaust to me.

    MUFFLERS, what should i get?

My vote is for the Dynomax Ultraflows. They make a Mopar sound like a Mopar. Deep and throaty. I have a set on my 414 stroker. They sound absolutely glorious cruising on the hwy at 2500 rpm.

    Stock sound still available?

Dynomax super turbos have a factory sound too. My brother has them on his 440 Dart. Wish I knew how to post a sound byte.

I run a fuel cell and never have a fuel smell. Although I only have 2.5" exhaust and a 9.25 rear.

    Drilling Holes In Mufflers

With the holes drilled the mufflers may last just a little longer. The lesser of two evils.

    Drilling Holes In Mufflers

That was a concern as well but I'd rather the moisture runs out of the muffler than sit in it. The mufflers are Dynomax Ultra Flows. Not stainless steel.

    Drilling Holes In Mufflers

Should I drill holes in my mufflers for for moisture to escape? If so, where is the optimum spot?

    Hooker to TTI question

I'd go with the TTI headers. They are better quality and probably thicker gauge tubing than the Hookers.

    a couple videos about TTI

Damn that was pretty cool. That mandrel bender was wicked! Now I know why they cost so much. The guy welding was super quick.

    Best Sounding SB Mopar Ever

There is a video of a Dodge a Ram on Youtube titled Mopar Crate 360 that is one of the best sounding smallblocks I've heard. I don't know how to upload it. Hopefully another member will.

Stock exhaust hangers for the Chrome Exhaust

I got my hangers from classic industries for $40 but shipping was about $12.

would a dual exhaust system fit?

I use the Jegs 2.5" kit without mufflers for about $200 . It does require modifications to fit. I also used Hedman tubes off the TTI headers. Damn near bolted in but were a tad too short so I added 4- 5 " to the Hedman tubes at about a 30* angle to mate up. I plan to crank it up this weekend...

    Best exhaust for my application?

Dynomax Super Turbos are, in my opinion, the best "overall" muffler for Mopars whether your engine is mild or aggressive. Nice deep tone, not too loud. Some will disagree but they are standard with TTI exhaust systems. I think that says a lot.

    Mini-starter compatibility

I got my mini starter from 440 Source and I have it installed on a Quicktime bellhousing. Works fine and feels much stronger than the old school "big bertha" starter.

    smallblock headers - which ones?

Depends on how deep your pockets are. If you got the cash get the TTI's or Doug's. They fit above the steering linkage and doesn't hang low. Schumacker has new Tri Y headers out too that may fit better but probably will impede flow a bit.

    Need new mufflers

My vote goes to the Dynomax Super Turbos. They sound mellow at idle and cruise but rumble when you put your foot into it. My brother had a set on his 408 Dart.

    X pipe benefits

Since your engine is so mild I don't see any significant benefits. just my .02.

    header options please

Check out bigblockdart.com. There is a article on their tech page that may help you out. It states that standard B-body 383 headers will work but they need a few dings for clearance.

    Starter for tti headers

Any 90's Mopar V8 mini starter. I got mine from 440 Source just because I was at the Mopar Nats. I did have to modify the starter solenoid stud for clearance but I have a 4 speed with a Quicktime bellhousing not the factory aluminum unit. Oh, my car is a '71 Duster smallblock, TTI headers too.

    Flowmaster Mopar Exhaust

Just wanted to pass along info about a new Flowmaster header back exhaust system for '67-'74 A bodies. The part # is 817585. Saw it on Youtube. Type in "Mopar exhaust sound" and scroll down to the yellow Duster. The video was added a week ago. Their website does not show a listing for it.

    tti header install

I'd suggest you remove the torsion bars & lay headers in the engine compartment before you drop the engine in to prevent scratching the headers. Wrap the headers first with a towel, bedspread.

    When to go bigger?????

From what I understand, unless you're making 600hp or more stick with 2.5". 3' is the "thing" now and sounds good when you tell someone you got it but not necessarily needed. Of course I'm no expert.

    Dynomax "Lifetime" warranty

Maybe that's why TTI recommends you let the car run at least 30 min. to get rid of all moisture, condensation, liquid/acid created by the combustion process of the engine.:violent2:
