DOH, escaped driveshaft and not shifting after.

Not sure about A500's, but if it has a front band check the adjustment. I had this happen in my 727 and the band broke, it would shift but not until I slightly let off the throttle. Checked the band adjustment and it just kept screwing in with no tension. Something wasnt right so I dropped the...

Is This Common For a Custom-Built Torque Converter???

Doug, I have this converter..... Edge Racing Converters, More Horsepower with More Torque Guaranteed! Might be worth a phone call. Im super happy with them (Andre), and even after I blew up my trans, they took it in and rebuilt it for me and gave me another warranty on it..

Pinion Gear marks on Sure Grip.

I had those same marks on a sure grip unit I pulled out of my car when I swapped gears. I agree with RRR, pretty common.

Well that sucks and is a minor set back. Was there a big price difference between the kit from Northern and the one you ordered?

Correct Raybestos brand. The only thing that did not work for me was that it only had 4 frictions for the front drum. If you decide to have 5 in your drum your going to have to purchase a single and a steel thru WIT or another place. Is there something else you wanted to know about them?

I got some good advice from a member on here. He said if your running a flex band then use the 3.8 ratio, if a solid band the 4.2 ratio. As for the kit, this one is highly recommended here on the site. Transtar Super Deluxe Transmission Kit For Chrysler TF8 (A727) 62-Up from Northern Auto...

Good deal! If you see anything that hints at trouble (splines are damaged, dropped and pan is crushed in, broken tab or something on the case, etc...) make sure you point it out to him. Just make sure its something that you are comfortable buying. If its a total basket case, I'd low ball him...

Im not sure if you are comfortable doing it yourself, but if not you could always check with a local trans shop and try to work a deal with them. See if they will pop it open and look things over.

Well IMO, I would for sure pull the pan and take a look. The inside should look nice and clean, even after being stored empty. Being that he is that far away. I wouldnt even make the drive (unless you have other reasons to go), with out him agreeing to a price you want to pay. I dont believe...

Ya, I started pricing stuff out thru some of the higher end places and no way in hell. I went here for most of my parts. Whatever It Takes Transmission Parts It was nice, they had a warehouse 15 minutes from my house so I could just pick everything up, what I didnt use I just brought back.

Checked my local CL to see what they go for. There are no used ones, only thing on there was a tranny shop that is offering rebuilts for $800.

I have a very similar engine and I just rebuilt my trans last year. I upgraded the reverse servo to the billet one. I already had the bolt in sprag, but if you dont, I would look into picking that up. IMO just the 4 bolt style not the 6 bolt. Replace the bands, clutches and steels. Look at how...

Did my 727 just die on me?

So True, but thanks again for the warning. The converter didnt fail, and I would say I had enough metal in the filter to cover a quarter, which included part of the band lining. On the magnet in the pan, I had about 1/8" of grey sludge stuck to it. I can only assume that is also metal. The...

Did my 727 just die on me?

Thank you for the input Greg! I'll look into the full shift kit. The rear band still looks great IMO, heck the printing doesnt even look wore down. I also studied the broken band this weekend, while I was tossing a cold beer back. It was a 8 rivet band. Im just stumped at how it broke in that...

Did my 727 just die on me?

Still looking for some input on the questions I have marked in Red, in my quote. I need to order the parts up and I dont want to order more than I need to. One other question I have, I have this shift kit in the trans now. TransGo TF6, TF8, 904, and 727: SK TFSC Would the TF2 kit be worth it?

Alright guys, I need help choosing a kit. I want this trans to hold up and work great, no matter what Im doing with it. In the past I've always used Alto Red clutches, which have always worked great for me, those were on 700R4's. Doing some research on the site, I see this kit from above...

Did my 727 just die on me?

Here is the valve body. Thanks for the info on the new band. I dont have it fully torn down, just the case gutted. I had a ton of metal shavings and gunk in the filter so its getting a whole rebuild.

I have the trans all apart already. Although it was not a stock band, or apply lever. I cant answer the pressure question, Im assuming the pressure was stock. I never changed it, nor do I know how. Hahaha. Here is both pieces of the band

Did my 727 just die on me?

I got the trans apart. There was a lot of very fine metal and some larger pieces as well as gunk in the pan and filter. The front band broke right at the rivets. Any ideas what could cause the band to break? My other question is since I do have metal in the pan and filter Im assuming its in the...
